1000+ Drums for Peace .....Jan 20th when * is inaugurated....

 DR

Greetings,

I am writing this note to inform you of a project I am working on.
"1000 Drums for Peace" On the day that the 1000th US soldier
died in Iraq I started thinking of ways for all progressive
communities to unite, at least in spirit, in protest. Here is the
plan. At the very moment the Bush begins taking his oath of
office drummers and drum circles all across the country will
begin to play the same beat at the same time. United together in
rhythm and protest.

The goal is to have Drummers for Peace in each of the every
state in the union. We now have 1000 Drums for Peace Drum
Circles in Arizona, Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida,
Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska,
Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon,
Pennsylvania, South Carolina, West Virginia,! Tennessee, Idaho,
Washington DC, Washington, Arkansas and Texas (namely
Midland Texas).

There is no telling how far this could go..... Imagine, Drummers
across the country all united at the same time, with the same
drum beat, a drum beat for Peace, a drum beat for freedom, a
drum beat against the war in Iraq, and drum against the cultural
war being waged against all of our progressive communities.

The event will be Jan. 20 as Bush starts his Oath of Office.
(noon) He will begin with the word "I". That is when the
drumming starts. The beat we will play is the heart-beat. Put your
head on the chest of some one you love and play their heartbeat.
We play our loved ones heart beat for peace.

I noted this added for our local group here in AZ...
DRUMMING FOR PROTEST, ANGER,ETC. WILL COMMENCE AROUND 10:30 AM.  WE WILL THEN  BE READY TO DRUM FOR PEACE, LOVE AND HARMONY ON OUR PLANET AT THE TIME OF BUSH’S OATH OF OFFICE

1. I would love to participate.
I'll be in the classroom that day, so unless an opportunity to stay home presents itself, I won't be able to join at that moment. I can drum before I leave though, just to add my own "beat."

January 20th would make a great snow day.

I am going to PM G_J if I can get off work for the inauguration, and try to meetup with him and his extremely cool, intelligent and fun SO in Asheville--I am betting that town will have an enormous circle that day!

Thank you so much for posting this!

8. Hey LWolf...think your kids would like some drumming?
Any way you could do it in class without causing major "stuff" to come down on your head?? What about at lunch or recess????

Hmmm....I will have to think about this....good question for all those at work.....

Hope the rains didn't flood you...I saw the sun for an hour os so today and now its raining again....sigh.....:loveya::hug:

9. Great idea.
I'll have to think about this one; I've got some rhythm instruments. Not enough for 31 kids, but still...and I have a big drum!

We'll see what I come up with. :-)

12. noon is east coast time?
That would be 9:00 am my time. I could join in for 10 minutes, and then the doors open and kids come in. We'll be sitting through morning announcements until 9:30.

Ten minutes...not much, but perhaps every little symbolic addition helps. A great way to start the day, anyway!
