Why I think the last five years happened to us.
I couldn’t understand it at first. I couldn’t understand why no provision in our election laws had been made when it was discovered in Palm Beach, Florida, that many had cast their vote for the wrong candidate. Why wasn’t there an immediate runoff election? The only votes needed to be recast would have been the Presidential candidates as they were the ones in question. It shouldn’t have been that hard for emergency ballots to be made available, marked in with a pen and counted by hand. It was only one precinct. Instead we were subjected to a three ring circus of butterfly ballots, hanging chads and Katherine Harris determined to certify the votes during the time higher courts were determining if there would be recounts of the whole state.

The Supreme Court of the United States, stepping out of it’s jurisdiction, stopped all counts and forced Al Gore to concede. Then the unelected fraud George W. Bush took the oath of office and proceeded to dismantle our democracy, raid our treasury and eventually plummet us into never ending war. I wondered why the Universe had allowed this to happen and why the man the people elected, Al Gore, was not our President? Now I think I know why. If Al Gore had taken office, those neo-cons lurking in the shadows would have hunted him relentlessly like they did Bill Clinton and they would have spread any propaganda to discredit him, interferring with his ability to do his duties as President. He would have had the quisling Joe Lieberman in the Vice President’s office working against him.

Like a stern mother the Universe gave us a time out for not paying attention to the lessons she was trying to give us about what was happening in our own house. We weren’t paying attention to these traitors among us and what moves they were setting into place. So instead we got a very hard lesson, one that has brought much death and misery to many on our planet. But she had to do it. It was the best way to get these neo-cons to expose themselves in the quickest way possible as to whom they were. It was faster than letting them lurk in the shadows for decades plotting, planning and getting rich at our expense while they did everything in their power to disrupt any progress our government might have made for a prosperous and happy future for everyone, not just a privileged few.

Now that we have had our first lesson, we must do what it takes to ensure this never happens again. That means when we get progressive, liberals back in power, we have to overhaul our election system so that it is transparent and nearly impossible to cheat on.

Next, we have to recognize that certain political ideals and philosophies are in direct conflict with our Constitution. Parties, such as those rising from white supremist groups, neo-con right wing think tanks and other criminal cabals should be outlawed as unconstitutional, and not allowed to participate in our government as elected officials. I’m not kidding. There needs to be a law. No, I’m not for jailing them or not letting them have their little clubs. I just don’t think they should ever be allowed to participate in government again for the good of our planet.

Finally, we have to start cleaning our own house first environmentally and ecologically and geo-politically. We need to make the waging of war an act so dire and so rare, that every other possibility to diffuse a situation needs to be explored first before we ever move a tank in a salvo of war. We need to make it mandatory that Congress declare war and no one else. No euphemisms need to be made like police actions and sending in military advisors. It’s up to the Commander-in-chief and the Pentagon to make their case to Congress first before any war actions are started.

We need to make laws that separate entertainment from information and news and institute stiff fines to any media who would deliberately spread propaganda and falsehoods as news. It will force them either to be honest or get out of the business. We need to enforce the separation of church and state in such a way that the charlatans get out of the business. Bill Moyers, a religious man and a first rate journalist, has condemned these political businesses parading as churches. We need to put them out of business.

This is the lesson the Universe has given us. If she gives us a second chance to make changes now that we know what our problems are, we have to take that lesson and make the changes necessary so that she will know we must preserve her gift of our planet earth one of her children as much as we are.

1. Good job Cleita
I think you're correct that this time has served to flush out one of the most self-serving groups I've ever seen.

2. Cleita, I have seen it here
I have heard posters describe us as wimps for mourning the children killed at Qana, I believe
that we have to have a more kind, gentler approach to sharing the world. The bomb and missiles
approach does not work and will not work. We poured tons of bombs into Vietnam; it made no
difference; we still lost the war. We are losing the war in Iraq, a war which we started.
I believe this is the lesson we have to learn.

3. One thing that bothers me is the silence from our party. When
you look at who has been the most outspoken and facing the issues, there are a select few. We all know who they are. What bothers me is that the entire Dem. party should be screaming and demanding action. You can say we are powerless to do anything tangible about it right now, numbers have purposely been swayed to render us powerless in the Senate & Congress. That's certain. It's my feeling that these doubts I have will not be answered until we really do straighten out the whole mess.

The other thing is that I don't think we have seen the worst. I think it's going to get a whole lot uglier. The "fifth day" starts Thanksgiving day and as IHaveADream has noted in one of her posts, it's about cleansing of the extreme kind. I think we have to be realistic & know that we haven't seen every dirty trick just yet. These players are masters at deceit & they aren't going quietly. It's going to be interesting to see who the real heroes are in all of this, meaning from our side. Conyers has been unbelievable, even Lou Dobbs has helped as a journalist, IMO. We've had terrific people like RFK Jr. & BradBlog speaking out & doing a fantastic job. Those are the kind of heroes we need.

4. I think we are going to see our apathetic and RW enabling Dems
being slowly purged over the years. Joe Lieberman was the warning salvo. I'm sorry we couldn't send DiFi the same message here in California, but she might start looking at the handwriting on the wall as it happens.

7. Interesting, Miss Waverly, I hadn't thought about losing Hillary.
But I think you are right, every last one who supports this flippin war should get ready to be ousted. Supporting the troops is one thing, we honor sacrifice by getting them the heck out of this illegal war. There are too many crimes being committed in the name of "democracy". It's time to speak the truth, call it what it is & demand an end.

Ya know, I used to like Hillary, but she has really become a panderer and a great disappointment to me. It's really sad, because she really had the potential to become the first female president, but it just ain't gonna happen. She needs to get herself right with her own party too. Let's hope Loserman is the great icon we need. A sure fire way to get yourself ousted is to want the war to continue.

I am pro-truth about 911, transparency in gov't with fair & transparent elections & bring the boys home! Those are the things I want & will work toward. I'll support the candidates that will bring us back to our core values, true democrats, for the people & by the people all the way. :dem: :kick:

There's no halfway, it's long past time to take our country back.

9. I used to like her myself
and I realized that she's the brains behind Bill, I know that, but I heard that she has kept
much of the criticism of Bush by the Dems tamped down. Why, what has it accomplished, I think
this passive congress has not done its jobs as oversight and if they did not have the power
they should have turned to the blogs and fired up the country. They could have built support
in the last 5 years. I just read in an aviation magazine that Homeland Security has been a complete corrupt theft of our taxes, beer machines, designer booties for dogs and Cheney keeps
talking about more power. It's pathetic.

12. Hi, mother earth. The Fifth Day is supposed to be really good...
Edited on Sun Aug-13-06 07:43 PM by I Have A Dream
according to the way the Mayan Calendar is supposed to work. It's the Fifth Night which is when things could get difficult. Luckily it's only for a year.

This is what the article in the Mayan Calendar thread says about these periods:

The Fifth Day is a period of Light and, in fact, is the brightest period of light in the entire cycle. In a plant's life this is when new chemicals are produced that carry the message to form buds. In human history, it was this section when Art was invented, the message of Jesus moved over the earth, Mr. Einstein discovered the theory of relativity and when America rose to world power with the victory of WWI. The Fifth Night or period of dark that follows is also the darkest period of each cycle. In a plant's life this is the growth of the bud. In your history, this was puberty. In all of human history this has been a time of great physical hardship or major conflicts, i.e., the Ilionian Ice Age, the Neanderthals going extinct, Rome falling, and WWII are glaring examples.

The Sixth Day we return to a period of "Enlightenment." This is the time of flowers for the plant. For you personally, it was adolescence. In human history this was the creation of the first tools, the first attempts at agriculture and constructed shelter, the Renaissance and, most recently, the Flower Children Movement of the '60s.

The Fifth Day begins on November 23, 2006. The Fifth Night begins November 18, 2007, and ends on November 12, 2008, when the Sixth Day begins.

13. Thank you for clarifying, IHaveADream, I'm new to the specifics
on the Mayan calendar, I guess I took away the Fifth "Night" info without realizing there were two separate dates for the Day and the Night. I'd rather have the Day, but I guess the Night is necessary to usher the way for the Sixth Day which sounds even better yet. Now, I'll be able to enjoy Thanksgiving this year, much better. It's ALL good. :)

Seems like Bush's last year may be a real eye opener & it might just take all that time for everyone to wake up and for the veil to be lifted permanently, but then what we will build will be outstanding.

Thanks for your info on the mayan calendar.

6. Of Course!
Edited on Sun Aug-13-06 07:52 PM by lildreamer316
I hate to repeat that tired-out phrase; "everything happens for a reason"; but it really is SO very true.

Think about it-the Gore we would have had then would not be nearly as effective as the Gore we could have now. You made a good point about what would have happened to him. He has been honed and forged by the fires of defeat and five years of reflection. So have we. This is why I am so very very excited about his prospects and his candidacy. I am truly convinced he is the one we need; and the only one equipped with the necessary soul skills (and human ones!) to steer this country into what we here have all realized is an extremely critical time in this country's history. We ARE a great country--but we have our greatest test ahead of us. If we can come through the next 10 with our beautiful dream intact-democracy-then we will have made the next step in soul evolution (along with the rest of the world of course). I am firmly convinced in a spiritual way that he is possibly the "uniter" we need-in both a political and spiritual sense. By that; I mean that he would create an atmosphere of tolerance and peace; where everyone could feel more free to pursue the path of their choice.

And you are correct--we needed this kick in the pants. Think of us as a person on our journey through life--sometimes the lesson has to come to us in a very hard and serious way for it to imprint itself on our consciousness and our soul. Then realize that MILLIONS of us had to get the message. Suddenly; the last 5 years makes a little more sense. (Please refer to my post on the planet's soul evolution--I think I am trying to say the same thing in a different way.)

The key is not to be afraid; to look foreword with hope. We are ever-evolving brilliant creations of the One; and so is the planet. There are solutions we are not seeing and cannot comprehend until they are ready to be seen or heard.

It will be ok. We will be ok. No matter what happens; we will learn and evolve. How can we not? It's the only thing we know. We can choose not to learn this particular lesson at this particular time. That's ok too--we'll just have to repeat it until we DO learn it. This is our challenge right now--are we going to decide; collectively; to learn this lesson now; or later?

It is an exciting time.

(And I'm telling you-Gore is gonna run. I knew it the first time I saw him back on tv 2 1/2 years ago. I knew it deep in my soul the SECOND I saw him walk on stage. I don't know if he'll win-but the man is so brilliant his mind excites me. Even if he is not our president; the contributions he is making and will continue to make will help us in this transition period so much--I can't wait to see how he will fulfill his potential. Sorry if this seems like a plug; but I really really mean this--I feel it on all levels.)

Great post--you have hit the nail on the head. I feel the Mayan links that I read in the other post support this hypothesis also--the fact that the periods laid out by the calendar have been happening 20 times faster each time; and the way they have been laid out makes PERFECT sense. Go read it if you haven't--I was nodding my head and saying "Yes!" aloud a LOT.

11. well said Cleita!
I so agree. We have been given a hard lesson here. We need to make some BIG changes. If Gore had won in 2000 he would have had a hard time getting things through in the political climate that existed then. However with the spectacular failures of the Republicans, the exposure of their true agenda, and the mandate we have now...:) (Closer to election time yours would make a good thread in the general forum).

I like that idea of barring extremist groups from taking over the government. And congress must control the entry into any war without being railroaded by the executive. Knock back the "political businesses parading as churches." Add to that a media that is responsible to the public and a transparent election system--you do dream big! Throw in freedom from undue surveillance and new privacy laws. Now is NOT the time to think small.

It's no longer a question of what's "possible" in the political sphere. We DESERVE these basic safeguards of Democracy and freedom. We have been exploited to the max and we WILL take our democracy back.

14. Wow. A good thread that deteriorated into Hillary bashing. I agree and dis
agree with your premise.
The Neocons must be allowed to participate in government, just as the neoliberals must be allowed to participate. This country cannot survive if we dismantle the Constitution by preventing everyone from taking part. I'm going to put up some more predictions in a minute, with a new thread.

doesn't allow freeper disruptors to dominate this bulletin board, we shouldn't allow those whose ideals fall outside of our Constitution to partake in our government. I mean we don't already. We don't have a royalist party that favors a dysnastic king for instance. It's against our Constitution. It's why we fought for independence from England.

The fascists in the White House have proved that they have no regard for our Constitution and our rule of law. They have committed treasonous, impeachable offenses. They already are outlaws and we should never allow these idealogues to enter our government again. If they want to have their think tanks and militia compounds I say they should be free to do so, but when they do so, they forfeit their privilege of participating in our government under the banner of those institutions.

16. there are no "neo-liberals" that are
equivalent to Neocons. The philosophies of the Neocons have no place in a democratic government. Kinda like saying the philosophies of Mein Kampf were OK, and acceptable for Germany.

17. I agree
From everything I have read, heard and thought, we are all here for one of two reasons:

1. To burn off karma, that is to learn some hard lessons. And what better way to learn about corruption, greed, lies, hubris, death then to live under the Bush cabal?

2. Some have volunteered to be born at this time to help with the pain and suffering, to help with the damage done by Bush Co. To help move things forward when ready.

Also many think that 2012 is going to be the time of a major vibrational shift on planet earth. And the years leading up to the shift will be ugly, a planet hitting critical mass melt down in many ways. This is the preparation for the shift. Pain is a good motivator for change, time to face some harsh realties about the human condition before we move forward.
