smudging advice please! and thanks in advance to all |
|
as most of you know I recently moved and have been busy remodeling the new place (as the 10+ threads in the DIY forum can attest)
anyway, through a series of events it has become clear this house needs to be grounded out and smudged
I have acquired some local sage/white cedar smudge sticks from a herb store in Taos, hand tied on the reservation.
I'm "feeling" like I need to do the house and the four corners of the acre but am torn on whether I should start in the house and work out, or start at the corners and work in
I hope to do the ceremony at dawn tomorrow, so any suggestions are appreciated
thanks again all

1. In terms of motion . . . |
|
each domicile requires unique movements. Trust yourself and the house will speak to you. Some sea salt on the thresholds won't hurt but I'm not sensing anything particularly negative in this space.

2. thanks Stella. yup it's not truly "negative" but rather "not us" |
|
we need to imprint the space
working on the house has helped and yesterday we strung 300 feet of fence around the perimeter and that helped A LOT! last night it felt more like "OUR land"

that you may have to share the space. You are on sacred land. You will never fully possess it. If your smudging ritual doesn't work to your satisfaction, perhaps consider sharing with the other beings that are there. Make peace.

3. Well, I'd go inside, then out, but that's me. |
|
Also--don't forget to invite good spirits in afterward. Sweetgrass, candle, prayers, whatever you feel is appropriate.

7. Native American tradition is to start in the east part of the house |

and then smudge in the sunpath direction. (east, south, west, north.)
Keep the door ajar for the negative energy to leave the house.
Then I would do the outside in the same pattern.
Just an idea.
Edited to add: yes like Stella says salt will work too. You can also put them in bowls around the house.
