The Stars This Week - October 30 - November 5, 2006
Take Your Time to Think Things Through

10/30/06 - 11/05/06

We finish October and begin November with retrograde Mercury looping back to an old discussion about lifestyle choices, with Mercury conjunct Jupiter on October 30 and square Saturn on November 1. Take note of the full Moon in Taurus ending the week on November 5, when your emotions are at an all-time high. With all of the rethinking and emotionalism, take a deep breath and remember that you don't have to decide anything yet.

October 30: Mercury conjuncts Jupiter; November 1: Mercury squares Saturn

As Mercury turns retrograde and returns to conjunct Jupiter and square Saturn, you are delving more deeply into your ideas and how you want to communicate them. Your mind is working overtime. As you search for creative solutions, there are many profitable conversations to be had and plenty of tweaking of projects and plans. You may be challenged to explain your thoughts, ideas and point of view. Do your homework and you'll be fine.

November 5: Full Moon in Taurus

This is a very interesting full Moon: The Moon is in Taurus all by itself opposite a whole lot of Scorpio, including the Scorpio Sun. (The Moon and Sun are always opposite each other at a full Moon.) Now, the relationship planets Venus and Mars stand guard on either side of the Sun, while Mercury and Jupiter are close by in Scorpio. Taurus rules money and the material world, as well as themes of value and worth. This is where your emotions are. With so much Scorpio, a sign of power and other people's values and money, others have something to say, and you may feel pressure to meet someone else's needs or agenda. The full Moon is also an emotional high-tide time. In Taurus, do something that helps you feel materially or physically comfortable, whether you make a plan to save money, vow to treat your possessions more kindly, tune in to nature or formulate values that accurately reflect where you are in your life. The goal is to make the kind of tangible, practical investments in your life that make you feel content and secure. Loyalty is a feature of Taurus, and being loyal to yourself as well as to others is important. In the days following the full Moon but before the next new Moon on November 20, take the time you need to get into your comfort zone.

1. Kerry's "gaffe is a prime example of Mercury Rx!
"*" has two books full of his verbal gaffes, so he can't blame Mercury retrograde for the fact that his tongue can't say what his mind wants it to, but John Kerry's blowing his joke is clearly a sign of Mercury retrograde - I'd be curious to see how it shows on his chart.

Personally, I've never needed Mercury to be retrograde to screw up a joke - I can do that anytime - but I think it easily explains John Kerry's mistake, in which NO TROOPS WERE KILLED. Don't you?

2. Hee. Ya know, I used to follow Kerry's forecast everyday (seriously)
but I haven't checked it since this whole thing got started. It's obvious to me now though why I was thinking about him so much last week, though. I can say without looking at his forecast for this week, however, that his forecast for the next two to three years, especially as regards professional advancement, is coming together nicely in my eyes. Which is why I am sorta laughing (in a really piteous way, that is) at all of the naysayers in General Discussion at the moment. Yeah, fellas, I know how it looks...read between the lines. :-)

it was a gaffe. Hate to be the nay'sayer. Read a WAPost (?) story today that indicated that Kerry's grades at Yale were actually lower than george's. Kerry rode the boat.

I want to believe the best of JK. But there is little evidence to support that wanton desire.
The debates with back'slappin george come to mind.

The editorial indicated it would have been best if he had taken one for the 'team' and apoligized up front. He didn't.
He made it BIG.
Have to wonder which side that guy is on sometimes.

edit: was his presidential bid a "gaffe"? How many troops did that cost?

5. He'd told that joke many times, but this was the
first time he blew his line on it. He's never impressed me as being particularly comfortable at public speaking, and when people are uncorfortable or tired, they make mistakes. I also don't think it was Kerry who made it a big deal, I think it was the corrupt press that did that.
The Washington Post also leans to the right; the NY Times called Bush to task for making it a big deal.

Honestly, I don't think Kerry's so adroit a public speaker to make that gaffe on purpose. As for your last question - do you really think his bid for the Presidency was something that got troops killed?
Am I understanding your statement correctly? This war is entirely on Bush's head, AFAIAC - he started the damned thing. Why blame the Democratic candidate for the deaths there, when Bush started it?
Rumsfeld's the one running it, too, so he's the one responsible for that, too.

8. That didn't
have any thing to do with that owl orchard? Or whatever they call it? Nothing of that sort?

Kerry wouldn't do that to his 'party'? NO? He's a good man. We are on his side?
What is that owl orchard? Gimme the name?

9. I have no idea what you're talking about, VSM.
I have no clue what the owl orchard reference is about -?
"John Kerry is a good man". Better than Bush, IMO, but I found him a mediocre candidate, and an elitist. He was very...uninspiring.
I don't think he would have been much of an improvementas a President, and I think he would have served the corporate interests more than the common man, because that's what the two parties have become to a large extent. But, hell, what do I know - I voted for Dukakis.
I'm sorry I pissed you off...

10. I apologize.
Yesterday was a bear for me. It's a personal matter and I was wrong to bring it to this lovely forum.

Instead of asking for help, I struck out. I regret it. You are always welcome here. Anyone who posts in ASAH is a gift.

My Bad. Very.

I experienced an emotional train wreck yesterday. I'm glad it is over. Sometimes we are called on to do things that we would rather not. I am sincerely sorry for the harm I caused. I respect your opinions and have always loved seeing you here. I can't explain my aberrant behavior, other than, I was just not myself last night. Thank goddess that is not the always me.

12. Apology accepted, Dear votesomemore.
I'm so sorry to hear about your day from hell, I've been there too, before. I hope things are getting better, smoother, and far more peaceful for you - it sounds like you could use a hug or ten;
:hug: :hug: :hug: :hug: :hug: :hug: :hug: :hug: :hug: :hug: and here's an extra one for good measure;

The good news is that Kerry's foot-in-mouth episode has been replaced by a conservative preacher sex-drug scandal, The Military Times is calling for Rumsfeld's removal, and oh yeah - apparently the Bush assministration published how to build a nuclear bomb instructions on the internets.
Plus, the Dems are surging in the latest polls, so there's...hope...for a brighter tomorrow.

PS: Please know all is not just forgiven, but know that I truly do care deeply for you and everyone here; it really is a special haven here on DU for all of us. Now, please take care of yourself; treat yourself kindly - don't forget to fill your own cup with joy and peace - we need you here!

Love and Peace,
NB

11. I will never believe that Kerry got worse grades than George.
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 01:04 PM by higher class
Someone would have to lay it out in a scientific way comparing which kinds of classes, etc. in order for me to even consider the possibility.

And as we all know to some extent, the grades in some kinds of classes are not always a measure of our potential.

I also pose this thought, given what we know about the honesty of George Walker Bush, how do we know when the dishonesty started? A fair question given the crime emanating from the man.

The only person I believe at the Wash Post is Krugman. Doesn't sound like the kind of thing he would bother with.
