ASTROLOGY - location

In casting a chart for a place that is now a city, would you do it for
the date of the incorporation of it as a town or as a city? St. Peters-
burg, Fla.,where I live, was at first incorporated as a town in the 1800's.

3. But seriously,
Edited on Sat Dec-16-06 10:17 AM by stellanoir
I'd look at both.

Some astrologers do conception charts, some do charts for when the ambilical cord is cut, some do rebirth, and sobriety charts, etc.

Sheesh I've enough trouble getting birth times.

In reality there are many little death and rebirth experiences in the life of anything.

I've seen astrologers cast five to ten charts for weddings based on when different rituals transpired.

People can really go bananas with this stuff.

I do think the town's chart would reflect more of the heart and soul of a place, whereas the city's would be more of the here and now. Both will tell ya something.

Sorry for the wise ass comment. Glad you thought it was funny. I was in a mood.

4. Couldn't get the time

It was hard enough getting the date. I figure I'll go with a noon time.

The building I live in has been sold and I am undecided whether I should
move or not. I mean, a different town/city. There are a lot of them
clustered together around St. Pete itself. I frankly was looking for
a more or less safe(r) place hurricane-wise. Well, since Uranus is in
Pisces, neither is much good: Feb.2, 1892 and June 3, 1905.
The first one's Sun conjuncts my Dragon's Tail and sextiles my Sun.
The 1905 chart's Sun trines my Ascendant.

Both charts are quite compatible with my Leo Sun, Taurus Moon and Scorpio
Ascendant, so we'll see what else comes up. It's the first time I've
really given this any weight (and I've lived in three countries, let
alone cities/towns). I've always relied on my on reactions to a given
place. This time I thought I'd give Astrology a whirl. Much to my
surprise, the librarian I called gave me TWO dates.

Just for fun, I think I'll do Progressions of both and go from there....

Thanks, Stella.

PS About the mood: is that where the NOIR comes from?

5. doing charts for a city...
Hi.
I do it for all information supplied. For instance, I did the city of Pittsburgh only to find it had a different date for incorporation vs founding. I found both to be "truths". One it seems is the viewpoint of the city from the state capital, the other is more of an accurate "personality of the city" chart.
In my opinion, you have to do charts for all the dates and then study them to see what you have. Tis not a clear-cut task.

After a while, it will become obvious as to which chart is really "active". It will react more realistically to transits, etc.

If you are interested in such an analysis, see my articles on the City of Pittsburgh at:

www.starself.com/articlesnews.html

good luck

9. Another Leo sun in the house?
It's great! Well, a challenge at least. I really enjoy the Leo suns that show up.
Sometimes in the strangest places. But that's a different story.

Nice to know a bit more about you, B.

11.  U N B E L I E V A B L E!!!

Only three times in all my years have I met anybody born on the same
day as me!!!

There don't seem to be too many Leos who were born in the first
Decanate. Most of them seem to be born in the middle of August.

JULY 30, 1937 - 1:04 P.M. - RIMINI, ITALY.

Sorry, I don't know how to post a chart on a thread.

I'm old enough to be your mother. In fact my first daughter was born
in March 1964.

P.S. Oh, I forgot. "The Gropinator" born July
30,too. But he doesn't count.......

15. DECANS/DECANATES

DE VORE ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF ASTROLOGY

"A term applied to a subdivision of Sign into 10deg. arcs, referred to as the first, second and third decanates or decans. The interpretation of Decans is based upon a system of rulerships, of which there are two in common use. One method ascribes Mars to the first Decan of Aries and thence carried a fixed series throught the 36 Decans, ending again with Mars ruling the third Decan of Pisces. The Series is Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter; as follows:-

First Decan Second Decan Third Decan

Aries........Mars Sun Venus
Taurus.......Mercury Moon Saturn
Gemini.......Jupiter Mars Sun
Cancer.......Venus Mercury Moon
Leo..........Saturn Jupiter Mars
Virgo........Sun Venus Mercury
Libra........Moon Saturn Jupiter
Scorpio......Mars Sun Venus
Sagittarius..Mercury Moon Saturn
Capricorn....Jupiter Mars Sun
Aquarius.....Venus Mercury Moon
Pisces.......Saturn Jupiter Mars

The other method employs the Ruler of the Sign as specifically the Ruler
of the First Decan with the Second and Third Decans Associated with the Rulers of the other two Signs and the same triplicity. Thus the First or Aries Decan of Aries is ruled by Mars; the Second or Leo Decan, by
the Sun; and the Third or Sagittarius Decan, by Jupiter. This gives
this series:-

Aries...........Mars Sun Jupiter
Taurus..........Venus Mercury Saturn

and so on."

........................................................................

I use the SECOND system and have never known anyone who used the first.

It's really simple:

You divide the 30deg. sign into three parts 10deg.each and go
from there, according to the triplicity. i.e. FIRE, EARTH, AIR, WATER.

In the case of Leo, the triplicity=Fire, therefore:

- 0deg. to 10deg. = Leo
- 11deg to 20deg. = Sagittarius
- 21de. to 30deg. = Mars

This method more or less gives an extra dimension to the personality.
Since we are discussing Leos, it seems many people remark that I am
different from the Leos they have known and I always think it is be-
cause of my Sun being in the first Decan. Being in the first decan, the Sun quality is reinforced, as in the second and third Decans
Sagittarius and Aries are the signs that add the extra dimension to the
personality.

17. COINCIDENCE?

I can't believe there are so many of us!!!

Sorry, this is NOT coincidence.

........................................................................

Off the top of my head, other famous FIRST DECANATE Leos:

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis July 28
Benito Mussolini July 29
Arnold Schwatzenner (sp?) July 30
Osama BinLaden (one presumed date) July 30

Anybody else?
.......................................................................

According to Alan Leo (my inspiration in the early days), the degree
of the Astrologer is in or around 27deg Leo. This conjucts the Fixed
Star Regulus (aka Cor Leonis/ Heart of the Lion).

Alan Leo's Ascendant and Saturn are conjunct in his chart at 27Leo.
Amazing that he survived as it seems that Saturn in the first House de-
notes a still-birth and his Saturn is smackdab on the Ascendant. His
BD is Aug.8, 1860 - 5:49AM, Westminster, England

And in those early days whenever a planet aspected that degree in
transit, I always found an out-of-print book authored by him. My
Mercury is at 27deg. So I came to regard him as "My Astrologer/Spirit
Guide.
