I see several posts about "The Secret", and I have been to the
website, but it doesn't really give me much information, except there is a secret and I need to spend $29.95 to view it.

Can anyone enlighten the rest of us? I would like to know more about it, before I spend that kind of money.

I don't have fancy things on my computer, so I'm sure I cannot pick up some of the things that the posts suggest that I can. I'm not computer savay enough for that, nor do I mind.

Thanks.

1. Basically the Secret is that
if you want something you need to visualize already having it. This is the 1st step: Ask the universe and believe you WILL recieve. Step 2: Let the universe answer. Step 3: Recieve the answer.
that is it in a simplistic nutshell.

2. It's about the Law of Attraction.
What you think about is what you draw into your life. (This is simplifying it a bit, but this basically summarizes it.)

3. As mentioned .
it is an interview type 'documentary', with fun examples, based on the "Law of Attraction".
It's a more vivid (might be the term) version of "Reap What you Sow", on metaphysical juice.

There might be a LOA meetup in your area which is showing the video or who can tell you more about it.

4. To further clarify..
The film has spawned something of a movement, at least in my area. There are many movements, you know ;) . It's a bit more than a way to ask for what you 'want', though the film might give that impression. I don't find the people there the least bit pretensious. Everyone has their own motive. But there is a lot of self responsibility when you realize that we all play a part in what is going on around us.

In the m-u tonight one of the women passed along information about Global Relationship Centers grc333.com . She highly recommended the courses. Even though the Headquarters is in our area, which is how the topic came up, there are no classes at this time. So, out of curiosity, I looked at the course offerings in San Diego. There is a weblink for that location > http://www.indigovillage.com//aboutsusie.html . Susie Walton, owner of Indigo Village is listed as the owner of the Center there.

This is a link to the Monthly Inspirationals. There are some things worth reading.

6. What they said.
Also, the flip side of the law of attraction is that if you think negative thoughts then they will be answered as well. One thing I would like to mention is that Mother Teresa was mentioned in the movie as a good example. She was quoted as saying something like "I'll never go to an anti-war demonstration, but call me if you have a peace demonstration." The point is don't fixate on what is wrong, just use positive thinking to further yourself. Plus, the point was made that not everyone wants money or things.

I really like the movie myself. I think it's worth the money.

7. 100% of the people

who attend the meetup have a vision of a "better world". Peace, sustainable, spirituality. There are some who set what I consider high monetary goals, but so what? They have an original idea or something to offer to humanity that takes Funding. I have not met a single person there who is not on a spiritual quest. Also, remember, that in the film, and in his works, James Ray says that true "wealth" is a 5 pronged idea*. It it not simply a pile of cash.

One really cute, outgoing woman who attends every week, is a student of Abraham Hicks, and reminds us that the reason for our existence is Joy. She keeps things kicked up a notch.

The co-leader is a Humanitarian team leader for some organization .. didn't quite catch that part yet. But one week brought a presentation about an event hosted by http://thirdcoastactivist.org/. Looking for sustainable communities and the welfare of our planetary survival!

There was a new guy this week who spent some years in a cave meditating and he is awesome, but feels lost in a throng of 'reality'.

These are no slackers. We are out to change the world. There is much support for one another.
Please, if there is a meetup in your area, anyone, try it! You will find gurus, you will find a muse. Kindred souls who want nothing more than to revitalize Reality.

* Five points to harmonic Wealth
Financial - green stuff
Relationships - begin with relationship to self
Intellectual - whatever stimulates your mind
Physical - fitness, care for our body
Spiritual - our contact with Source, creativity

had just won an ebay bid on the original for $60. One of the members passed on a copy to him for $40. I have not seen the second edition. I have the first version.

Which one do you have?

has Esther Hicks. There were some contract negotiations, which cut her out of the second edition, by her choice.

You probably have the original. I cannot even imagine the film without Esther/Abraham.

12. I wish people would stop spamming GD with it
Such things are offensive to those haunted by war.

These people are in search of sheep to fleece, so they will carry on a while longer, but I can clearly envision an ignominous fate for them... ;)
