Which sign would benefit the country more? Scorpio or Leo?
We've had Leo's in the White House since 1992. Senator Obama is another Leo. Senator Clinton is a Scorpio. Which sign does our country need more to represent us effectively in this place and time?

2. what's interesting about the Clintons
Is he's a Leo and she's a Scorpio.

If she gets in, it will be interesting to see the reverse--Scorpio as prez, 1st man as Leo.

I'm a Leo/Scorpio so I know full well what the dynamics of that combo are.

3. Tell us more
My Cliff notes knowledge say that Leos like to take center stage. Does that mean Bill will try to outshine Hillary if she wins?
I know there's a lot more to a person than their sun sign but I think Bill sometimes does upstage Hillary. How does a Scorpio respond to upstaging?

19. She'd quietly approach him & stick her stinger in his eye..
and quietly walk away.
They've probably been through this scenario before & have come to know the boundaries of each other.

4. What are their rising signs?
Curious, as I know that can greatly effect things. I'm Leo rising/Aquarius sun, and recognize that combination has had an effect on how things balance in my chart.

14. Hillary's a scorpio with scorp rising?
That scares me. I'm a scorpio, but with libra rising. Hillary plays her cards close to the vest, scorpio style, as with the national health insurance debacle under Bill. I have never trusted her, and now I know why. You can't trust a scorpio. I am one, and even though I would tell anyone they could trust me, I think you can only trust me because I only have scorpio sun. What's her moon sign?

5. Not that up on astrology,
but it would seem to me that the Leo candidate would be for more dynamic, expansive things--which can work or be a complete bust. Whatever is done is done in a grand way. Scorpios are more secretive, less demonstrative, though the ones I know can be very pleasant and nice and work to get things done--but cross one and you get bite bad. Luckily, that has happened to me only once--but I still feel the sting.

7. Just as a general principle,
a Leo to sit on the throne, a Scorpio to be the power behind it.

In Obama's case, however, we see Leo's expansiveness combined with the Leo's conviction that it will all get done somehow. "Don't worry about the details or the history, and don't hold me up, I'm on my way to shine in front of another adoring crowd." Leos tend to do the performance part of the presidency, or any other postion of authority, exceptionally well. Bill Clinton is astonishingly good at it, but he was and is far thoroughly anchored in policy and the details.

Scorpio is far less needy and tends to be driven more by goals, whether they're personal ambition, public service, or a combination thereof. Scorps have a ruthless streak that's quite different from Leo's me-me-me selfishness: cooperate and you'll be gratefully rewarded, because Scorpios value loyalty; get in the way, and you're a speed bump, run over and left behind. It's an intensely focused approach to problem-solving.

So I suppose it comes down to a question of which approach is better for our current situation. Given that we're on the verge of choices which can have a profound impact on the future of the entire planet, I'm going to vote for the focused, get-it-done-at-any-cost approach.

15. "intensely focused approach to problem solving"
I totally agree. It is both one of Scorpio-me's biggest strengths and greatest weaknesses. I think, in government service, it is a liability. You have to include the people, the other parties, the other countries. You can't just run roughshod to your goal.

12. and I had to look
It is an interesting read on Obama, if I read it correctly to mean that he may be receptive to the energies of the collective and in a sense is directed by it? Is he then in a sense a manifestation of the collective will?

Born 26 October 1947 at 8 PM EST in Chicago, Illinois, Clinton’s chart has many important galactic factors. Chief among them is the double Quasar contact, to both the Sun and Ascendant, which describe the “over-achiever” aspect of her character.

With the Sun at 2 Scorpio conjoined the Quasar at 4, and the Ascendant at 29 Gemini conjunct the Quasar at 26, Clinton was born to stand out in a crowd. Quasar folks seem to have the knack of getting things done; they network well, and their contributions are impressive and impossible to ignore. Like a beacon on a hilltop, individuals with strongly placed Quasars attract attention and notice, and these brightest and most distant of Deep Space anomalies confer success and achievement on the native lucky enough to own one.

Interestingly, both points are within orb of out-of-Sign conjunctions to Black Holes as well—the Ascendant with the Black Hole at 4 Cancer and the Sun with the Black Hole at 28 Libra. These conjunctions are outweighed by the nearer contact with the Quasar, but add an element of magnetism to Clinton’s make-up, pulling others into her orbit almost effortlessly, while also suggesting that there is more to her than meets the eye. Secretive and changeable, there is a sense of working behind the scenes that goes with this contact, and a willingness to manipulate circumstances for her own ends.

http://daykeeperjournal.com/aarch07/0704apr/alex.shtml

Barack Obama’s natal chart shows a considerable Deep Space emphasis. His Leo Sun serves him well; like Bill Clinton, another Leo and the last successful Democrat nationally, Obama has the gift of relating to people without talking down to them. But at 12 Leo that Sun has some issues, galactically speaking. Conjoined a Maser at 13 Leo and exactly opposed a Black Hole at 12 Aquarius, Obama’s Sun is torn between two powerful anomalies which he seems to have made work for him up to this point, but which can be difficult in the extreme to negotiate successfully in the long term.

t is the Maser which gives Obama his “Rock Star” persona, sending waves of excitement and anticipation through the crowds at his public appearances. Masers are powerful but difficult to control. They can be likened to cosmic cattle prods, spewing huge jets of energy and material into space at irregular intervals. They promote excited, agitated states, and can lead to breakdown due to energy bursts so volatile that they result in burnout. Obama’s use of this potential disabling energy has been extremely successful so far, but the unique pressures of running a national campaign will put him under unprecedented stress, and how he will handle this is not at all certain.

The opposition from the Sun to a Black Hole enables Obama to be somewhat chameleon-like, being all things to all people, allowing them to see whatever they want in him. The tricky thing about Black Hole Sun natives is that they will adapt themselves to their audience, appearing in whatever projection or pose they require to attain their ends. This isn’t always deceptive; in fact, it often isn’t done consciously, but is a natural outworking of the interaction of the Sun, the self or essence, with the kaleidoscope of potential expressed by the Black Hole. The associated Black Hole psychically feeds on the energy attracted by its projection via the medium of the Sun; the better the projection is fine-tuned to its audience, the more energy the Black Hole stands to receive. This adaptive mechanism does not require the conscious participation, and thus culpability, of the native to manifest. This can be especially true of the opposition aspect, which due to its nature, tends to mirror others’ expectations even more strongly than a conjunction or other aspects.

16. I need something simpler than this
Although I know it can't really be so simple...but quasars? Masers? Do I even have those in my chart? I never saw them anywhere.

Hillary is Scorpio sun and scorpio rising. Moon sign, anyone?

Obama is Leo sun and...

I know if I'd read previous posts that have been offered here about the stars and the candidates, I'd probably have this info by now. Sorry. My bad.

I don't know Obama...I don't trust Hillary...I love Bill...running mates still TBD...I feel like narrowing the whole thing down to a choice between Scorpio and Leo is a bit alarming, frankly.

If I had to pick, though, sight unseen, I'd take Scorpio in charge, despite everything else I've said all along. Leo is really only good for the hair flip and the pose, am I right? You want someone to come in and take charge, you want the Scorp.

LOL .. You just gave me the idea to blame my vanity on my sun sign! Nothing major.

However, I can delegate all day. That's got to be Leo and I think a good thing for someone who has so much to do.

25. aha, here: Scorpio and Aquarius have been the most prevalent sun signs of US presidents
Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 06:33 PM by kineta
http://thezodiac.com/weird/uspresidents.htm

<snip>

It appears that when it comes to Zodiacal Sun Sign qualities in their presidents, citizens of the USA have tended to somewhat favor the Zodiac Sun Signs of Scorpio and Aquarius; each with 5. Least favorite are the Zodiac Sun signs of Aries, Gemini, and Virgo; each with only 2.
