anxiety dream or something more?
Edited on Fri Feb-15-08 10:16 AM by radfringe
given the problems my partner and I have experienced over the past 11 months...
(multiple car accidents and job lay-offs) I'm tempted to brush this off as just an anxiety dream, but it's become a bit of a "head worm"

the dream is either 3 separate ones, or 1 dream in 3 parts

1. My partner and I have parked the car in a small shopping area parking lot. We go into the store, when we come out a large delivery truck has smashed into the line of cars where we parked. My car is among the worst damaged ones.

2. Next, we are home, it's morning. I go outside with the dogs and find one of the huge pine trees had snapped off a few feet from the ground, but the branches/trunk and other damaged tree debries had all been cut up and neatly stacked. There's no one around - it's like the "elves" came during the night after the tree fell and cleaned it up for us. All we had to do is move the wood to where ever we wanted.

3. Now, I'm at a car dealer, going for a test drive in a dark maroon car with red interior, car runs fine, but seats are uncomfortable, and I tell this to the salesman. There's not much of a choice on the car lot, and I need a car to get to work.

on edit: the whole thing with the car, I can sort of understand as my underlying anxiety. Not sure about the tree and the mysterious person(s) who cut up and stacked it.

my partner is still unemployed, with benefits running out at the end of march - so there is high anxiety to try to find a job. now trees are outside the house, just as a job would be outside of the home.. could the tree falling down represent job layoff, and the mysterious cutting/stacking represent wishful thinking that something will appear to help out?

oh and the thing with the car being red - with 2 exceptions, all the cars I've ever had have been white or red... not by choice, but because that happened to be the color of the car that I could afford at the time, and I'm getting tired of having white or red cars.

what do you think?

1. anxiety dream and something more
Part 1. Total fallout from all the hits you've taken with a touch of an understandable persecution complex.

Part 2. I love this part. The snapped pine tree is a real pattern breaker and really feels liberating. Evergreens are generally traditionally symbolic of eternal light. The fact that you were assisted by invisible helpers and got free fire wood is really encouraging. You have more support and warmth (comfort) than you know.

Part 3. Uncomfortable seat is symbolic of residual unease from your accidents. Dark Maroon is not really red and suggests a deepening of the prism through which you move through the world.

Some people call red cars cop bait.

Cool dream/s

2. ROFL: Some people call red cars cop bait... I call them that all the time
have white car now... also not one of my favorite colors for cars...

when we went to look at cars for me last april - partner asked me what kind of car I wanted to look at... told her - whatever I can afford, good gas milage and NOT RED or WHITE...

got something I could afford with good gas milage - but it's white.... to keep my inner child from complaining about the WHITE car, when asked what color car I have, I say "NOT RED" :D

3. Interesting dreams. I might add a couple other possibilities
for you to play around with to see if they might fit.

The first dream I agree is probably just symbolic of the hit you've taken, a kd of community hit that you had no control over, yet you were hit hardest of all. It feels sort of unfair.

The second dream to me would probably have to do with my sense of manhood being cut down. Pines are often sort of like phallic symbols and thus symbols of male power. Your husband has likely been hurt by the lay-offs and this has been the result. The elves, however, are a kd of reassurance that even tho it feels like you've lost a lot, it can lead to something very good as mentioned by Stella.

The third dream could be a kd of feeing that you don't feel comfortable having to take a more driving role in the relationship, to show more energy. You'd feel more comfortable taking a less active role maybe.

As always those are just my impressions. Try them on for size. Maybe one or more will ring a bell.

Good luck getting thru your experience. It sounds like you're being helped from the spiritual side.

6. gender aside, perhaps there's relevance when you consider that
in coupled relationships there's a "top" and a "bottom"

I hope Steve doesn't feel bad, it was impossible to tell the gender of your partner in your OP because you left out pronouns.

 sorry for the problems you've been having. This too shall pass.

4. I love dreams!
Even symbols of anxiety dreams...

I agree that the first dream probably has to do with your misfortunes and feeling disadvantaged from them.

The second one is so intriguing - I also think that the elves helping out show that you and your partner do not feel totally abandoned and left alone to deal with your fate. This keeps the feelings of hopelessness at bay and allows for a generally positive focus in spite of everything.

The third one has to do partly with your major theme in your working life of needing transportation, and the problems this gives you. I remember you once were trying to decide between 2 jobs and the commute, and weather/traffic conditions was a big factor for you. In this dream the car was OK while the seats are uncomfortable - maybe meaning how things just are not working out to full satisfaction in this area, and perhaps other areas as well.

My general feeling from your dreams is that even though you are dealing with the stress and anxiety of insecure situations, there is an underlying faith and feeling of support that keeps you from being overwhelmed by it all.

Just my take, what I pick up.
