Some cool quotes from a book I'm reading.
Richard Bach, of course. "Curious Lives - Adventures From The Ferret Chronicles"

A roadsign: "Please maintain the speed at which you feel safe under these conditions."

"I withdraw my consent from evil."
"I withdraw my consent from war."
"I withdraw my consent from violence. From hatred. From malice."
"I withdraw my consent from these. In my actions. In my thoughts. In my choices."
"I withdraw my consent from evil. Forever."

The Constitution of Courtesies:

"Whatever harm I would do to another, I shall do first to myself."
"As I respect and am kind to myself, so shall I respect and be kind to peers, elders, and kits." (children)
"I claim for others the freedom to live as they wish; to think and believe as they will. I claim that freedom for myself."
"I shall make each choice and live each day to my highest sense of right."

"....we don't need disaster to learn kindness."

more as I encounter them.

2. Thanks for that. I'm a big fan of Richard Bach's work. "Illusions" especially.

4. I'm a huuuuuuuuuuuge fan.
I've read lots and lots of other authors in the spiritual realm, but for whatever reason, the older I get, the more he resonates with me..and the more "Illusions" becomes something I return to again and again. The genius is the simplicity. Simplicity is key. Occam's razor of a sort, I think.

It's my absolute favorite book of all time. I know Mr. Bach would not want me to even consider a book, any book, as a be-all and end-all, but his comes closer than any other I've encountered so far.

Have you read Running From Safety? I really enjoy his 'explanation' of 'God' there. Had my husband read it, and it really opened his mind up in a different way.

6. "Have you read Running From Safety?"
No, not yet, but when my next batch of money comes in, I'll search it out. I don't know why I haven't read everything of his!

Thanks for the recommendation.

5. One of his earlier books or short story that
evolved around a conversation with a pilot ... was taken from conversations with a dear friend of ours who has now passed. He had met Bach somewhere and they were both passionate aviator types. Our friend was a wise and funny person and we were grateful that Bach saw that too. Will have to go look up what the book was called...

7. I really like those withdrawls of consent. I have tried something like that in the past
wondering how much I and everyone is influenced by global, regional, and cultural collective consiousness I have tried to deliberately separate myself from those by mentally cutting any ties with anything that perpetuates harm. I really don't want to get sucked back into that fear based reality and I don't want to feed into it making everything that much harder for others as well. I don't want to participate in a world acting on the belief systen that progress can only come through horrible suffering and even then the bad guys win in the end.

8. Exactly. So don't you find it hard to fatham the minds that
resort to spying and cheating.
