the power of a word

One of my friends with whom I do sweats sent me this link. It is about the fact that reciting the word "Allah" can improve health--tests were done with Muslims and non-Muslims, native Arabic speakers and non-native. I am well aware of the power of saying this word, beyond the respiratory system. It opens the heart chakra, as does any word with the "ah" sound. I have found the Aramaic words of the Lord's prayer to also have a beneficial effect. Anyone else have words that they feel are beneficial to health when spoken aloud?

Vander Hoven, a psychologist from Netherlands, announced his new discovery about the effect of reading the Qur'an and repeating the word ALLAH both on patients and on normal persons. The Dutch professor confirms his discovery with studies and research applied on many patients over a period of three years. Some of his patients were non-Muslims, others do not speak Arabic and were trained to pronounce the word "ALLAH" clearly; the result was great, particularly on those who suffer from dejection and tension.

"Al Watan", a Saudi daily reported that the psychologist was quoted to say that Muslims who can read Arabic and who read the Qur'an regularly can protect themselves from psychological diseases. The psychologist explained how each letter in the word "ALLAH" affects healing of psychological diseases. He pointed out in his research that pronouncing the first letter in the word "ALLAH" which is the letter (A), released from the respiratory system, controls breathing.

He added that pronouncing the velar consonant (L) in the Arabic way, with the tongue touching slightly the upper part of the jaw producing a short pause and then repeating the same pause constantly, relaxes the aspiration. Also, pronouncing the last letter which is the letter (H) makes a contact between the lungs and the heart and in turn this contact controls the heart beat.

What is exciting in the study is that this psychologist is a non-Muslim, but interested in Islamic sciences and searching for the secrets of the Holy Qur'an. Allah, The Great and Glorious, says, "We will show them Our signs in the universe and in their own selves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (Qur'an) is the truth." (Holy Qur'an 42:53)

1. I so agree Ayesha.

Words, like thoughts, are energy. Words have shape, form and vibration. And there is also something powerful for me to speak these words and prayers, etc. outloud, particularly when I'm alone, but also in a group. Something powerful in actually making the sound rather than having in in my mind...to manifest the word through sound.

And if anyone needs proof of that...
this also ties in with what has been discovered with the Emoto water experiments...that water changes form when exposed to different sounds, thoughts, etc.
And if you've ever watched those experiments with sound itself as it vibrates and forms the most amazing and intricate shapes when salt or sand is placed on a metal plate over a speaker (I think I posted a video link to that here some time ago).

2. Oh yeah, I remember!

I've seen videos of the sound experiments with salt, etc. Sound is a very powerful force and one that is really just beginning to be explored.
