Nourouz - Islamic New Year/Spring |
|
Is Nourouz celebrated on a full moon?
Is it time to start growing alfalfa?
The only reason I caught the festival last year was because I was 'warned' in a dream. This year I want to be prepared...
thanks

1. Nourous is a Zoroastrian festival of the New Year |
|
Celebrated near the vernal equinox, if memory serves. The neatest part of the celebration is leaping over a fire pit to get rid of old thoughts and habits from the old year. Special food is eaten to ensure good fortune for the coming year.
It is celebrated mainly in Iran. I've been to two celebrations-they were timed to fit a weekend and so weren't on the exact date.

2. Sorry to get the tradition wrong. |

That could be annoying. Thanks for the correction.
