A question for ASAH folks
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 12:08 AM by Dover
How much of your reality is informed by the various channelers, psychics, and ascension spokespeople, etc. that come out every month or so, often in newsletter form? What might be different about your life were you not absorbing that information? I'm pondering this myself, and just wanted to get your thoughts.

Edit to add, that I get several of these newsletters, and though they are from different sources, most of them agree on many of the same points. So they reinforce each other. I was just thinking today how that general reality that they all seem to 'agree' upon is all pervasive and I was asking myself how my own reality differed.

1. I have been thinking about that, too...
and when I feel better - hopefully tomorrow, I can think a little more clearly.
But in general, some messages do not resonate at all, but in some, I find little bits and pieces of information I had not thought about, which then expands my perception.
I tend to have my own "gut feelings" and or flashes of information, and sometimes it leads to some sort of explanation of what I felt...

ugh, sorry...I am so out of it I have to go to bed. :(

2. Thanks for the response Rumpel. I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Sleep tight.

I agree with much of what you say. I was trying to piece together what some of the agreed upon things were that they all have in common...their basic message. And then which things set off alarms for me, or that I reject. What do they add to my life, what role do they play?

I'm sleepy too. :boring:

3. Oh Dover and rumps
Hope you both wake up feeling thoroughly refreshed and restored.

Yeah Dover, I think about it a lot as well. I have a guilty pleasure of reading all sorts of channelings almost every single day. Though only about 20% of them truly resonate with me, still I rationalize that they counterbalance all the political crapola to which I regularly expose myself.

So go figure.

I think about the spiritually oriented friends I have who are totally oblivious to politics and are really content and part of me longs to ignore what's going on. Yet OTOH, that doesn't quite feel appropriate this time 'round.

Thanks for bringing up this discussion.

9. Hi Stella.
How do you feel when the channeler or other source provides info about politics and this election in particular? To me that's different than one of us sharing our own 'truth' about something because these sources take on a cloak of 'authority' and often suggest they speak for Source or some other entity of ultimate authority.

I was kind of fascinated that JUST prior to the talk about Hillary/Obama uniting on one ticket that there suddenly seemed to be a plethora of these sources repeating that idea, some in subtle language and others more overtly. Hmmmm....

I too have found some pieces from these various sources that resonate, but much that doesn't too. My reality is informed by my relationship with Source/Divine and no other which comes in dreams or through intuitive channels. And while I don't share much in the way of how those conversations go (I feel that's private), I do take to heart the instruction and meaning for my life of those messages and act accordingly. And I'm always working toward improving those personal channels and becoming a better medium for that light to shine through me...which takes practice and awareness to grow it. There are, for me, no shortcuts or work-arounds.

I guess what I've been thinking about and what concerns me about 'other' sources for these messages is that A) I don't know anything about those anonymous human sources personally who send out their messages, and most importantly it seems that B) there is a risk of becoming so satisfied and therefore lazy with these 'other' sources that one becomes dependent on them and forgets to exercise their own muscles with regards to improving their personal relationship with the 'true' source that can only be experienced from within.

I've experienced this same issue somewhat in my youth with psychic readings. The readings became a reality unto themselves that began to direct my life, and I wondered what I might be doing/thinking/feeling in my life if I hadn't ever received that information. And worse...if something they spoke of didn't happen I'd either blame it on the psychic's ability or on myself for failing to initiate the psychic's perceived event in some way. In other words I'd become much more self-conscious and dependent upon an outside source to inform my life, rather than on my dreams or developing my own relationship with Source. As I've said before, this journey can become very twisted and murky.

Of course every one has their own path, but I also feel it's a healthy thing to stop and question ourselves every now and then, particularly when something doesn't feel quite right or seems convoluted and perhaps has hidden agendas. If we are going to be open and receptive we must also fine tune our inner filters. And what helps me to filter is my own connection to Source. I get those inner messages "wrong" every now and then in translation, but mainly it's served me well.

4. I don't put too much into them unless they can be explained in down to earth terms.
I usually try to associate what they are trying to say and put it into "real world" perspective. Sometimes they just don't resonate with me.

I have tried to be very careful with anything that tries to turn the spiritual process into something super normal or that plays up the "ego". It's a normal process and everyone is engaged in the process whether they realize it or not.

Defining terms so that we're on the same page is important to me too.

My husband is a channel and we were given information in the 90's, some that has since come to pass. It was simple and comprehensive information that I use to compare and contrast any other information that comes my way. I have found many of the sources I read not only agree with each other but agree with what we were given years ago.

The bottom line, we just live our lives and try to serve in what ever way possible while continuing to learn the best way to do that while still being human. :)

This is absolutely beautiful, OhioBlues.

A friend and I have been reading lots of info lately about how the whole political process is a sham and that things are pre-determined for us. (Sadly, it's my gut feeling this is too true.) And we pondered what to do in the face of this: How do we, as awakened ones, move forward? Your comment above summed it all up. So, I thank you for that bit of clarity.

As re: channelings, (and really, with anything), I take what resonates with me and leave the rest. Sometimes I find it to be lots of words that really don't add up to anything. I accept that, for me, there's no lesson there. For someone else, perhaps. One of the things I love about this forum is that we are all so open about going with what 'feels' right to us rather than requiring 10 pages of irrefutable information before we believe anything. It's not like that in many places. That is why I tend to stick to this place when I visit DU.

I was going to post something very similar to this, except I was going to say "I keep what resonates with my heart, and the rest, I discard." And for me, this is also how I approach most anything in the spiritual realms, and always have.

6. Caroline Casey says: "Believe nothing. Entertain possibilities"
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 09:41 AM by crikkett
and I find that to be a great motto.

On edit: the question wasn't worth a one-liner...
I have a healthy respect for mystics and channelers (and physicists and chemists and witches and gardeners. etc. ) The earliest astrologers were astronomers.

Humankind in the industrial age is like a teenager who thinks they know everything, thousands of years of accumulated knowledge be damned. We're coming out of that phase now I think, we're all regardless of occupation or method of discovery heading towards the same truth. Just as we each have our own talents to share, we have something to learn from everyone.

7. I use the information that comes my way as a basis for hope
but I would say though they often affirm my own inner feelings, there is something from within that means more to me.

13. On hope.
Thought since we've been discussing Tolle lately you might find this discussion about 'hope' of interest. What are you thoughts about this?:

....hoping for a future different from this moment only distracts you from the freedom you seek. Consider the sensation of hope. Does it not also contain a feeling of resistance to how things presently are? Is there not a belief that the conditions of this moment are somehow flawed and "should" be different? The very nature of enlightenment is to be free of hope; because in clear awareness, there is recognition that life as it is has an underlying beauty and perfection. And it is one's condemnation of how things are that prevents one from realizing the Essential Truth of Being.

Our path to "enlightenment" lies not in some future of hope and possibility. Our "path" stands directly before us, closer than breath. Enlightenment is fundamental to who we are. There is no where to go to get it. Essentially enlightenment it is clear seeing in this now moment. It is the recognition that this eternal moment is life. Looking to other moments and other possibilities is not the answer, it is the problem. Tolle wrote no book titled "The Power of Hope". He wrote "The Power of Now". Now frees us from the allure of hope based on our condemnation and resistance to now.

All of Tolle's pointers, if followed, lead to this present moment awareness and are designed to free us from the concepts of time and separate identity (ego). It is the ego/mind that seeks and hopes for future salvation.

14. I've been thinking about this thread
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 05:53 PM by votesomemore
a lot. Even woke up thinking about it. I've been asking myself the same question lately. I'm feeling a need to shed a lot of bulk that may have built up. I don't quite have the solution yet. It's nice to have the discussion.

I did finally head over to post after catching up here earlier. I started to post then, but I don't have words. Then I started reading something else and the factor you bring forth here occurred to me also.

I don't read a lot of channelings. But I do get the same information in other ways. Aren't there really two basic types? Those that are talking about a future and those talking about a now. I lean toward the Now teachers. That way gives me the most peace. That is what I really seek, but I've also started to question even my motives.

Another path that naturally resonates for me is that of a Shamana. I can accept the basic principles very easily. The most basic is, whatever works is what is true. I don't see this changing because pragmatism is an all pervasive personality trait. My perception of utalitarian is almost endless, so I don't think I put myself into a box on this.

It's a very interesting question and one I hope to find more answers.

edit: Another truth I hold to be self evident is that of the Observer. The eye of the "I". That is a true mystery. Holding that to be true colors anything else presented as true.

11. It reinforces my belief that we are in absolutely dire times and that we must do as much
as we possibly can do in order for peace and truth to come out on top.

I've been screaming about how bad BushCo really are since the invasion of Iraq, and only now has the evidence become overwhelming that my feelings were right. Thankfully, this is girding the nation into opposing such an obviously downhill situation (finally!).

12. Yes it seems we choose things that reinforce our reality, belief, fears, etc.
It keeps that reality alive for us. It's the egoic reality, though. And it means we haven't fully accepted and found the beauty in what is all around us and within us.

We cannot ultimately change or create peace and truth until we've died to the painful reality we are currently choosing. Peace is within...not as an abstract concept, but as a living reality. What I see (and of course the political venue at DU would amplify this even more)
is a continuing investment (hope?) in the 'old' fear-based reality, and again we will hit a wall and discover it to be an illusion...even if some apparent changes make us feel better initially. The same patterns are repeating themselves, and we are ultimately rearranging the furniture within the same room. We believe this candidate, that situation, some change 'out there' will surely turn the tide if only we focus enough of our energy there. Same song second, third, fourth verse. First we construct the great hope for something other than where we are, then the eventual disillusionment and finally the anger and pain increases chipping away at our fiercely protected and maintained realtiy. Rinse, repeat. Peace and love and light are available to us now, whenever we're ready to receive it....within. The rest is just noise and distraction and fear.

15. I believe that I have been seeing the facts, and am hopefully not single-handedly
responsible for their occurence ;)

Your reply is food for me; I have been tremendously fear-based all of my life, and have only known how to "fight" that which caused me upset, all the while knowing that all that I saw was only a reflection of my inner state. It's been a long, hard journey back from where I've been, but it's been so much easier in these last few months that I can't begin to tell you. Just a note for those on that path: the energy has shifted and it is easier than ever to forgive, to love, and to be taught joy and the release of fear than ever before. You do NOT have to live in resentment, anxiety, in anything negative anymore, unless you want it to be there.

You are very right, peace and love are available right now, within us, and there are powerful beings wishing for us to ask them to help us learn it. I'm rambling, but it's a chance to share gratitude because there are things that I cannot do for myself, that others are either doing for me or are helping me to do. That alone has proven to me that the light is the better path.

This is indeed about regaining our personal power and using it to create our internal, and thus, external experiences. I'm doing a lot of praying and it must be doing some good as I feel lifted and changed as I do it.
