1. Oh, thank you so much for posting this here, lildreamer. |
|
I never would've found this story if you had not.
It's such a beautiful story... it made me cry.
I posted a link there to another story I ran into about this right after reading the story here first. This is an entirely different source, but the same story told in a different way (but by the same guy). (Interesting... I wonder why Freedom's story is coming to us--or at least to me--from multiple sources at his particular time?)
Secret: One of my birds is a beautiful, bright blue, bossy scrub jay who came to us a wounded fledgling. We raised her to adulthood and she lives with us because she is unreleasable (her feet are deformed). We love her dearly. She is a wonderful soul to have in my life. I'm just saying this to let you know how much I could relate to this story, how much it meant to me. Thank you, thank you for pointing me to this story tonight. It has lifted me up.

He writes more about the spiritual connection at the link I added on the thread linked here. Just thought I'd let you all know that it's worth clicking on because it is a different telling of the story. The fist one brought me to tears, but this one really choked me up.

4. I'm glad you posted this here. |

I would have missed it otherwise and it was so worth reading. I gave it a little kick so those in GD who missed it like I did will have another chance to see it.

6. In the Lakota tradition, the eagle |
|
is a messenger from Wahkan Tahkan, and is considered sacred. The eagle named Freedom is definitely sacred. Ho Metaquiatsun!

8. What a wonderful story. Even though it made me cry, I'm |
|
thrilled to have had the opportunity to "meet" this beautiful bird. Look at her eyes in the photographs. She is indeed special.
