UFO Hunters on the History Channel
I am watching UFO Hunters on the History Channel right now, and, they are discussing Sedona Arizona, Stonehenge, and the Hudson Valley in NY as containing "vortexes" -- high energy fields, or "gateways to other dimensions".

There have been many UFO sightings in these three places. Since I live in the Hudson Valley (I love it here), I was particularly interested to learn that there have been stone structures and shelters found here that at least one researcher has attributed to the Celts. Another criterion is that there is a military presence close by. There is one about three miles from where I live, and, there is also West Point...which is about 12 miles from me.

I had no idea that my region was a place where there have been many UFO sightings. Wow!

1. That's really interesting, Hope. So nobody there seems to talk about this?
You'll have to keep your eyes to the sky!

2. Hey, Hope
I'm not far from you (I'm in north Jersey). I kind of wondered about that area because of Whitley Streiber's experiences. Have you seen his Web site? If you haven't, it's a must.

I'm a huge fan of this new show. In fact it has gotten me hooked on reading about UFOs. I think we should have a regular UFO thread here on our forum!!

3. The show is excellent!
Hey, neighbor! I am going to check out Whitley Streiber's site. Thank you for the tip!

I did find some info on another site:

http://www.ufoevidence.org/topics/HudsonValley.htm

which I have started reading.

I think it is a great idea to have a regular UFO thread here!

It's about the history of UFO sightings in the Hudson Valley. It's the updated version, published in 1998.

28. I'll let you know! I purchased the updated version because my sighting was after
the sightings in the first version. During the show they said that the activity stopped after 1984 or 1985? My sighting was in 1989. BTW..the photo on the left hand side of the page of the link you provided, the one with the rounded series of lights, looks like the craft I saw.

I think that there are continued sightings to this day, just not as frequent. Apparently, there are monthly meetings in the PineBush area regarding this topic. I was thinking of attending one. The next one is in May.

21. I used to live in northern NJ - Cresskill in Bergen County
In April, 1968 I was a freshman in high school. I had my first UFO sighting. 4 years later, during the summer between senior year and first year of college a bunch of us were swimming at a friend's house. Her parents were very nice people and we got talking. Somehow the topic of UFOs came up and they related a sighting they had had 4 years previously. We started comparing experiences and quickly came to the realization that we had seen the same thing on the same night. The thing that had freaked me out the worst was my dog's reaction to it. I had a 2 year old German Shepherd dog who was not afraid of anything. That night he was cowering in the dirt and trying to dig a hole to climb in.

Never seen any UFO's around.A lot of strange and wonderful things but no UFO's.
This vortex is pretty small though. The one at the Carter Center is much bigger. While I have never heard of UFO's there either I have always thought it was interesting that he would place his Library there.

6. I missed the show but "military presence" ?
as I posted in NJCher's previous threads - now I have to check and convert the distance...

Yup - Yokosuka is less than 6 miles and Atsugi is about 10 - but the weapons depository is even max 3 miles.

Weapons used in the Korean & Vietnam wars were stored here:

http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~yv2t-tnk/ikego.html

now it seems it houses US Navy personel...

Did they say why a military presence?

11. From what I saw, rumpel
they did not specifically mention why there are military sites close by. But, I would suspect that, if there have historically been many sightings in a particular area, the military would know about them long before we would. Would they then want to maintain a presence in these areas?

7. Hi Hope! I live in the Hudson Valley too, and about 17 years ago had a sighting right in front
Edited on Mon Apr-07-08 04:15 AM by OmmmSweetOmmm
of my home. I was with 6 neighbors at the time.

I'm on the other side of the Hudson from West Point, and the town next to me was mentioned on the previous UFO Hunters, Yorktown. In 1983 an engineer was by a local reservoir and saw a craft above it zapping a red laser-like light into the reservoir and then saw a blinding white light. He remembers nothing until the next day when he wakes up outside of his car. Not mentioned on the show, but around the same time frame, there was a mass sighting when a craft flew over the Taconic Parkway. Traffic halted, people got out of their cars to watch.

Whitley Streiber's Communion took place in the Hudson Valley.

As to having a vortex in the Hudson Valley, this is the first time I've ever heard of it, although I know that the energy throughout the Hudson Valley is sometimes wonderful and all the time interesting. :)

BTW! It sounds like you live close to here.. Is the other military facility Camp Smith? If it is, I live about 3 miles from it too! :)

9. Hi OmmmSweetOmmm
I am on the same side as West Point. The military facility near me is Stewart. PineBush is on this side of the Hudson, and, it has been the object of a lot of sightings.

Wow...you had a sighting!!! That is so amazing!

The show I watched yesterday mentioned the Taconic Parkway. There was a "boomerang" kind of object that, apparently, thousands saw as it appeared often over a period of time in that area. Apparently it also appeared in other locations, and, even right over the Newburgh Mall!

On your side of the Hudson, there are supposed to be some stone and cave-like structures that have been discovered in about 5-6 locations. These are considered to be "sacred" sites, and, this is one of the prerequisites for classifying a "vortex".

I admit I was pretty amazed at the show's info, as I have only lived here in Orange County about 1 1/2 years (lived in Rockland County before moving temporarily to the Pittsburgh area. I moved back to NY 1 1/2 years ago) I must have been living in a vacuum when these sightings were at their peak, however, as I did not even realize that Whitley Streiber's experiences were so close by.

We are neighbors!

12. Hi neighbor! I'm from Long Island and Queens originally, and made my way west to Manhattan,
Edited on Mon Apr-07-08 08:21 AM by OmmmSweetOmmm
Then north, stopping first for 4 years in Yonkers until I moved here. I'm right outside of Peekskill.

My sighting! It was about 10PM and I was taking my dog out for a walk. As I walked out my front door, I saw this huge dark shape in the sky, flying just above the treetops, lights around the perimeter. Soundless. I then glanced to my right and saw 2 of my neighbors on their doorstep looking at it, and then looked to my left and there were 4 more watching it too. I had no fear, just fascination. Not a single one of us said a word as it passed overhead and left. We didn't even say anything afterwards. I went into my house and called the police. I couldn't get through, constant busy signal. The next morning I just didn't follow-up with it.

About 7 years later, my younger son (who wasn't even born then) came to me and asked me why I never mentioned that I saw a UFO. He then went on to tell me that his friend Miohael told him that I did, along with his Mom and Dad! :)

In a couple of days UFO Hunters will be posted on youtube and I'm looking forward to watching this episode! :) (All of the other episodes are up on youtube)

As to those structures! Wow! I just did a quick search and found this. Some of these areas are literally 10-15 minutes from where I live!

http://www.think-aboutit.com/Underground/ellenville_tunnels_and_pine_bush.htm

The Stone Chambers

An enormous number of stone chambers are scattered throughout southeastern New York State. They variously have been deemed to be colonial root-cellars, Native American tombs, or Celtic-Druid temples. There is quite a variety of slab chambers throughout Putnam Valley and surrounding towns, not all are ancient however.

Many slab-roofed chambers are hidden beneath the trees of the hills in the Croton Reservoir System, which includes Oscawana Lake, Lake Carmel, Mohegan Lake, and Peach Lake. Stone chambers can be found near all of these lakes in the surrounding forests.

Some of these structures are located near Peekskill Hollow Rd., Tompkins Corners, Meads Corners, and Dicktown Rd., all of which are located around Oscawana Lake. Near Carmel, NY, specifically off of Colesheare Rd. and Clear Pool Rd. exist more slab chambers. Off of Barger St., near Mohegan Lake and along Old Turner Rd. near Peach Lake, sit more unusual stone structures.

(This area below is about 40 minutes from here)

Near Brewster there is a desolate road known as "Reservoir Road" where a small stone chamber was discovered. On this road, several encounters with unusual beings have been reported. It has also been reported that one woman took a picture of ghostly, hooded figures in front of a stone chamber.

Strange images on film at these sites are not at all uncommon. At most of the stone chambers, people have taken photographs which when developed, show floating globes of light or strange glows. All of the strange apparitions were never seen, but for some reason appeared on film.

In 1992, late at night, a man encountered a white-robed figure in a slab chamber along Route 301. He had seen a red-glow from the chamber, so he went in and was seemingly warned off by the being.

Entities of that type have been reported in several other unusual sites in that area. These robed beings are sometimes accompanied by hooded Viking-like entities and sometimes with dwarves in hooded robes. The reports are too frequent and numerous to dismiss as an overactive imagination.

BTW... Stewart...interesting little detail about Stewart, it is a NORAD base. How fast do you think it would have been to put up a fighter jet to intercept the 2 planes flying down the Hudson from Boston that hit the WTC? Also, don't you think if the hijackers really would have wanted to create greater harm, they would have targeted Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant, which they passed?

13. Wow!
Thank you for the info on the stone chambers (there are also free-standing tall stone "structures", BTW). The show mentioned that some thought these were root cellars, but, it was pointed out that root cellars are not typically built above ground as the vegetables would rot in the winter. The opinion of at least one researcher (as your article mentioned) was that they were Celtic-Druid temples. I found that interesting in and of itself!

When you had the sighting, it sounds like there were many other people who saw it also, considering that you could not get through to the police. And, that your son's friend's parents still talked about years later must mean that it was pretty impressive.

BTW... Stewart...interesting little detail about Stewart, it is a NORAD base. How fast do you think it would have been to put up a fighter jet to intercept the 2 planes flying down the Hudson from Boston that hit the WTC? IMO, there was no excuse for the lack of a NORAD intercept. None. And, yes, I think that the power plant would have been a much more effective target if the intent was to inflict as much harm as possible. Good points!

I am near Newburgh.

10. Hi ISOS
I think OmmmSweetOmmm could also be of help here. From what I could see from the show, it is the entire Hudson Valley region. But, the "sacred" sites are located in Putnam/Dutchess counties. There are, apparently, four prerequisites for determining the location of a vortex. I can remember only three:

1. Lots of sightings
2. Military presence nearby
3. "Sacred" sites in the vicinity

I am trying to do some research to refresh my memory on the 4th prerequisite. I found a few of the sites I found last night down this AM when I tried to access them.

15. OK! With a bit of delving! I just found a message board re archaelogical sites throughout the US and
mentioned was a root cellar in Putnam Valley. It is located on Lake Oscawana Rd. right across from the Elementary School. That's about 10 minutes from here. The person giving the response and location said that it was a root cellar and that people are reading too much into what they think are ancient carvings. I think I'm going to mosey over there either today or Friday (my days off) and try to convince my oldest son and his girlfriend to come with me.

I also have a dear friend who is quite a bit younter than me, and she and her friends used to know the area like the back of their hands. I'm going to ask her today if she's heard of these locations.

I am also going into memory jog here. A few years back at a meeting held at my local Barnes and Nobles, I met an older couple who mentioned a cavern-like structure in Putnam County that when in the chambers during the Equinoxes or was it Solstices? The light filled the chamber in a certain way. Will have to search that out too. :)

17. My best friend used to live in Putnam County, NY and when I lived in
New Jersey, I spent just about every weekend at her house. This was back in the 1980s. At the time naysayers kept saying that the sightings were caused by some ultra-lights being flown out of the Stormville area. Never mind that many nights were too windy for ultralights to be aloft, etc. While we never saw anything, or rather I saw something but I was in the Pine Bush, New York, on the other side of the Hudson from Putnam County, visiting another friend, my aunt and uncle who lived a bit further up the Hudson River in Catskill, NY did. They had been out for dinner one evening and as they were walking out of the restaurant, someone yelled and pointed. My aunt and uncle looked in the direction of the pointer's hand and there, about 50 feet off the ground and less than 50 yards away was a large dark V shaped craft hovering and making no noise. My aunt reported seeing windows with low lights, but no heads or anything like that in them. The object hung there for a minute or two, then rotated roughly 90 degrees and left, moving right over the restaurant parking lot and co-incidently my aunt and uncle and several other observers, gaining speed as it left, all with no noise beyond a low deep hum. My aunt was positive to her dying day that it was no group of ultralights she had seen. Check out Pine Bush, NY as well for some interesting sightings.

What did you make of the fact that there's always a military presence nearby? Are the unexplained lights/crafts experimental craft belonging to the military? Or is the military trying to learn more about UFOs?

23. Hello isos! There was also an interesting show on UFO Hunters dealing with
reverse engineering. UFOs created by our government based on extra-terrestrial technology. There are also some people that feel that UFOs (if thought to be ET), keep an eye on our military and their actions.

Tomorrow, if all goes well, I'm going to check out one of the stone chambers that's just about 10 minutes from here. If not tomorrow, probably one day next week. I'll take photographs and post them.
My son and his girlfriend are excited about this. :)

So far, I haven't heard any consensus about why a military presence tends to be near frequent sightings. I'll bet it's a little of both -- the military wants to keep on eye on the activity, and, the UFO's want to keep an eye on our military -- LOL!

36. it is like medival and older churches often were put on the site of nonchristian sacred sites
It is a good way to take over built up energy built up by decades or even centuries of rituals and/or ley lines.

Another thought as why UFOs are attracted to military sites is to keep an eye on the military and what they are capable of. Or here is a thought - think of how machines often stop working around ufos. Maybe they have some way of absorbing the energy and use it to recharge their equipment?

35. liked the beam that came down and stopped
They showed the infrared video at a feeder. Some livestock had disappeared so the owners set up a 24 hour infrared video. They captured a light (or heat) beam coming down from the sky, which did not hit the ground. It just stopped in mid air. Then some people independently said that they say such a beam from the object in the sky. I thought that was the most interesting (and convincing) thing.

I have to say that I am skeptical of "they are hear to save us." It seems like more of an indifference. But none of us know. I did hear Mel Torme's son on Coast to Coast, and that is in line with his thoughts on it.

Remember when the United Airlines employee posted in this group that everyone had seen a UFO at the Chicago airport? Then, about two months later it actually made national news. That was pretty cool.

37. I haven't seen it yet.
I don't really have time right now to watch anything 'up close'. I definitely want to see that one though. I feel like I almost grew up in Stephenville, after being there so many times. I was there for a college football game eons ago.
You know the kind of country it is. Coun-TREE!

I don't know if they're here to save us or not either. I've heard the range of theories. It seems likely to me that at least some are military craft. Think about it. People are seeing UFOs DAILY, and yet the GOVERNMENT acts like it's not even real. Nothing to even acknowledge. Shut down questions even. That's curious.

And then there are the thought forms which become *real*. Could be some of that. The Energy aspect would be interesting to look into. A lot of radioactivity, isn't there? What could that mean?
