What do we know about Ophiuchus?

The "13th sign of the zodiac" is connected to the "Dark Rift," which is connected to the galactic alignment forecast for that mysterious Winter Solstice of 2012 and a great shift of some kind.

A friend, who is a retired astrologer, says that Ophiuchus will settle between Scorpio and Sagittarius, but there's just not enough known to give a predictive profile of Ophiuchans soon to be born or how this all relates to 12/21/2012.

Her sights are set on 2019 and leaving behind "the age of fundies and blind faith" (Pisces) and hoping, as she put it, that "the Age of Aquarius will be here in its full, positive glory!!"

What do we know about the mythology of Ophiuchus? How is it anticipated that the significance of this sign and the galactic alignment in 2012 will influence events on earth?

4. Dream, the first link doesn't work

in that it says the page doesn't exist.

Second page works, and I skimmed it (at work and can't give full attention). The serpent part got me thinking-could this link with the Mayan serpent god?

5. It says that they exceeded their bandwidth limit.

It was working yesterday. (I clicked on it in the post that I posted to make sure that it worked.) I don't know how the bandwidth limit is cleared. (Whether it's that they're allowed to have only so many hits in a certain amount of time or some other way.) :(

yes, I've read a book about it and boy does it throw a wrench in the celestial works. My hands are totally full with the "regular" 12 signs. Of course, I ignored Chiron for 30 years too. Got that big goose egg on my face too. Let me know what you think about Ophiuchus...

All I know is that the Scorpios who get overwritten by it are certainly Scorpionic. I wonder what Ophiuchusians are like?

3. Kicking to encourage input!

The fact that Ophiuchus is coming into consciousness now and no one quite knows how to integrate it or what to do with it is interesting. I once read that 13 is the number of renewal, as in the start of a new cycle -- the 13th hour is the start of a new cycle of 12, and the same is true of the 13th month. Now that the 13th sign of the zodiac is "asserting" itself, perhaps that symbolic meaning is more true than ever.

The one thing everything I've come across agrees on is that we are heading into a new-cycle ending/beginning -- perhaps sudden and dramatic, or perhaps much more subtle. It's a little scary and a lot exciting to think that we'll be here for whatever it is that happens, and the link between Opiuchus and 12/21/2012 is absolutely intriguing to me.

I'm very much looking forward to reading what knowledgeable members of this group have to say on the subject.

8. Interesting. Glad you brought this up.

From reading the second link Dream posted, and knowing nothing else about the constellation, it makes me think of DNA. From other things I've read, I have a strong sense that there is much more to discover about genetics and healing.

By getting the RW neo-cons out of power (at least visibly), scientific advancement will skyrocket. They have damped down the field of science by decades, if not more. That's another topic.

This is the part that especially makes me think of DNA and of course, healing.

It is said that the goddess Athena gave Asclepius two vials of blood from the Gorgon Medusa, who had been slain by the hero Perseus with Athena's aid. Blood from the right side of Medusa's body restored life. Blood from the left side was poisonous. Others say that Asclepius gained the power to restore life from a herb which a serpent used to restore to life another serpent that Asclepius had killed with his heel or his staff.
