Are there any astrologers here that study Evoultionary Astrology as taught by Jeffrey Wolf Green? |

1. I first met Jeff more than two decades ago. |
|
After hearing him lecture on several occasions and having one reading from him a long time ago, his story is quite intriguing.
I think his method of determining karmic orientation based solely on Plutonian and Nodal Placements is really quite insightful.
However, he's a bit heavy handed on the sadism/masochism meme, or at least he used to be.
That's not to minimize the degree of sexual imbalances in our culture though.
He is wise though.

3. Yeah, he had some prejudices that come out in his writing and lectures |
|
but don't we all?
He also seemed to go right for a person's sexuallity when looking at a chart. I always wondered about his motives for that.

For sure and it's sort of an understatement. LOL
I've got a serious amount of Plutonian influence in my chart and am by no means a prude, though I've got a lot of Virgo which is notorious for the embodiment of the challenge of reconciling the spiritual/sexual schism which is so endemic to our culture. I don't mind discussing that at all.
Still I feel his message would have been better received had he couched it in terms of a victim/persecutor pattern. It may have had a much broader appeal and is essentially the same thing.
Just semantics perhaps.

7. I don't think it's 'just semantics' |

I whole heartedly agree with you Stella. He could have used more accurate terminology and not equated unhealthy psychological models with healthy, kinky fun.
we've had this conversation before I think ;-) Me too on the heavy Pluto/virgo influence. Jeff Green said that inconjuncts were often signatures for sadomasochistic tendencies. What do you think?

Well, he did discuss that a bit, yes. But what I meant was that it often seemed when he was discussing a chart, one of the first things he looked for was sexual issues - particularly 'non-mainstream' tastes. I'm probably exaggerating a little - but that's something that stood out to me.
All in all he's a great astrologer and I learned a lot from him.

2. I took classes with Jeff Green when he lived in Seattle. |
|
Still have notebooks full of notes and class handouts. His take on astrology had a lot of influence on me.
