We got a new kitten and I swear, this little thing is the epitome
of someone I know, but can't put my finger on it. He's so cute (a given) but what's so fascinating about him is the way he takes on our much bigger cat Merlin, who is five years-old and 20 lbs (yes, he's recently been put on a diet:) Our other cat, Gretchen, is so timid and protective of Merlin (she's 3 years-old) and hisses at any other cat that comes around our patio outside (my cats are indoor cats) however, this kitten has wormed his way into her heart TOO!

It's so amazing to see the different personalities of the precious animals ( I say precious now, until they wake me up playing at 3 am ;)

What info can I find out about the "personalities" of cats and does anyone else have any insight:)

1. Listen to your heart and pay attention to spontaneous reactions you have
I think it was a Seth book that said that people's souls will sometimes incarnate in part in animals to be close to a particular person or family. I feel this is true with my cats but whether or not it is so they are all so unique with their own quirks and habits. The personal photo I use is of Fredric who I feel was my little brother in a past life. He is such a sweet little boy. I would catch myself picking him up high into the air and calling him my little brother whereas before I always called my cats my kids. One time I was telling a psychic friend stories about how something cute Fredric and his brother did when she said 'you do realize they incarnated with you since you haven't had children?'. I had already gotten that feeling about Fredric but not George so I wasn't shocked. I feel honored that such sweet beings would chose to live with me :)

2. Hi Blue Roses
I read your post earlier this week and I've been thinking about it.
I also wonder about souls in pets. I can understand how taking care of a pet can teach your soul valuable lessons. However, what lessons does a soul normally in human form get from being incarnated as a cat? Why would a human soul choose to reincarnate as a cat?

3. my two cents worth
There is no such thing as an "animal soul." It's consciousness. Consciousness may decide to incarnate as an animal--it's just another way to grow.

When the consciousness that was incarnated in an animal is released, such as when that particular body is no longer functional, the consciousness expresses itself just like any form of consciousness would. When in animal form, the consciousness cannot speak but when released, it can communicate just like any other form of consciousness. For example, when my Bitsey passed over and appeared in that photograph, she wanted to let me know it was her so she appeared with the lower half of my face as hers. This was a communication that confirmed to me that it was indeed she in the picture--it was a play on the fact that at an earlier time, I'd made a digital photograph of the top of her head on mine (with Photoshop). Pretty witty, I think.

Why would a soul want to incarnate as an animal? I imagine there are things that can only be learned that way.

I know one thing: I no longer think of "animal souls" as lesser than a human's. It's all consciousness, regardless of what type of body it's in.

4. Love, pure unconditional love without the human issues to get in the way
Humans can love and trust pets when they can't trust a single human being. That is one powerful lesson. Maybe they do it out of companionship with an old friend they have lived many lifetimes with, maybe in other's it is to return the favor of friendship that they themselves provided in a previous incarnation.

I can honestly say my pets have made me a better person for knowing and loving them. Everyday I love them more and I feel my heart growing to be big enough to love these dear beings which gives me a bigger heart to love the humans in my life :)

I think I have shared here before that I feel at least two of my cats are with me in cat bodies because I haven't gotten around to having human kids for them to incarnate in :p I have known for years that pets have souls so when I get a new pet I tell them I know they are a special soul living in a furry body as I am a soul living in a human body and that I am honored that they would incarnate with me in such a vulnerable form, trusting me with their entire care like a permanent child.
