Welcome to May! The pic above is called Above the Clouds and is from the Astrology Pic of the Day hosted by NASA. I thought it was a good visual aid of what we all try to do - gain perspective on our lives and rise above the troubles.

Rumi is always gently enlightening. This poem especially helps when I am feeling overwhelmed and makes me laugh. Seeing ourselves as part of the whole, as not being alone in our concerns, can make many fears subside and they then become more manageable.

I am more grateful than I can say to have this forum to come to for solace and community! I have learned much here and am grateful to be able to contribute in this way.

Our son received word last night that he was accepted at a college he had all but written off as inattainable - was on the wait list and they called late afternoon yesterday and told him he was accepted. We are exploring funding... but very grateful for the acceptance even if he can't attend due to the funding issues.

but have decided that that is the way to think about this. A degree from this school would merit taking out a larger loan to attend if need be. Thanks for kind words. He's our only son and so this is a bit of an emotional ride for us. I am very grateful for this turn of events for him. This has been a difficult year for us - this makes it worthwhile.

He's received a tremendous scholarship or the equivalent to a full boat. I haven't seen the paperwork but we are responsible for about $3,000 for all of next year. OMG! All we have ever heard about this school is that they don't do scholarships more than half! We weren't expecting this at all!

I am so so very grateful for this. We have been tearing our hair out over how we were going to pay for his school.

21. This is the first time I am posting for something for myself...

And acknowledging that I get to count, too and that I need helping hands is a big step in my personal growth. I think we are told way too many times to work hard and "pull the boot straps up" in the United States. We are always willing to give a helping hand, but are shy and bashful and scared to admit or appreciate the gifts from others.

I have found a passion for politics. It excites me. I would really like to serve as a US House Rep. I'm not rich or connected.. but I have determination and passion.. and I'd like to be part of that change that really helps real people. I would like to be one of those representatives that looks out for the best interests of the people, the constitution, and progress. I admire the Kucinich style. I think he needs more of us to help. I think the United States needs more of us; whether they realize it or not (LOL). I would have never thought this would be a path I'd like to take. If it wasn't for Bush and knowing discontent and seeking out like-minded individuals when it was dangerous to speak out against the Bush terror agenda, I wouldn't be at this point in my life or on this path.

So, I'm asking for prayers to help me with this path; to meet the people and connect with other's that would help me with this endeavor. AND that I have the strength and determination to run an uphill battle (I'm in a very Red district with a long term incumbent)... Thanks for the support.

A metaphysically-inclined friend of mine told me that the spirit of my grandfather, who died in 2004, is going to be a special guide for this child, because he may lead a challenging life. He attempted suicide this week and is in the hospital. We are not sure about the long term diagnosis of his recovery. He has had a difficult time in life, and been an alcoholic for many years. His twin committed suicide about 10 years ago.

Apparently, K will be nursing Patrick, which, much to my shock, is causing "issues." Who knew that breastfeeding wasn't popular among my relatives? My cousin had her doctor and lactation consultant explain to the unsupportive crowd that it's the best option for the child, but they're still freaked out. It's minor, compared to everything else that's going on out there in the world, but if y'all could spare a good thought or two, I would appreciate it.

It looks your relatives are getting a crash-course in parenting! I had a little bit of guff from some relatives about breastfeedng, but it was pretty subtle and easy to blow off.

I'm sending K vibes for a strong sense of self and the fortitude to keep baby Patrick nursing even though her family is wrinkling their noses at the blessing that is breastmilk.

63. I had the same thing

happen after my caesarian. The breast milk comes later as the body takes a while to adjust and figure out that the baby is out now and the next step is needed. Tell mom that there will ALWAYS be well-meaning but ignorant people who will tell her ridiculous things about breastfeeding. She knows what is best. She needs to TRUST her instincts.

When I was struggling to get it going - I had the nurses in the hospital and then my pediatrician of all people who I had vetted (so I thought) about this issue, came and told me that what he really needed was some rice cereal. Three days old and he wanted to give the baby solids!!! (Which is now thought to be the cause of allergies in later life)

Baby will be fine. Once she is alone with him and not tense, it will all work out. Sending some special MOM LIGHT to her right now.

She will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers this weekend.

The Astronomy Picture of the Day is always beautiful and inspiring. I often wonder about people who don't realize that the unbelievable time and distance and variety of the phenomena in the universe are so strange that even great physics minds can't often explain them! I'm talking of those who think the earth is 6000 years old. The ones who are afraid of the beauty and majesty of the real universe.

Einstein was just scratching the surface of the weirdness out there!

I would ask that my continuing move, and house repairs on both houses, progress swiftly and smoothly. And that I can sell/give away my extra possessions with no problem. I've had some of them come back from a consignment store with "boomerang essence". :D

I ask for whatever serves her highest good to assist if possible her transition and releasing the wounds of her most this life.

I also ask for help myself to feel worthy of asking for help and of all the things I feel every being deserves but when it comes to myself I put myself down. I am getting better about this but I feel so guilty and unworthy when something good happens. Also so much childhood stuff is surfacing right now, which is *good* as it means I can get rid of it, but is overwhelming at times. Anything that would help smooth process of letting go would be wonderful.

I am so very down this week. My current day job is pointless. I don't make the money I need to make. Have been trying very hard to visualize in positive ways but it doesn't appear to be helping. Have tried to get a freelance project moving along but the other person is dragging their feet. Another couple of intriquing projects are there but require financing that I can't provide.

112. Thanks everyone. I only woke up a few times last night when I moved my foot

and it got tangled in the blankets. I have broken both pinky toes several times when I was in my teens so I am doing what I did then spliting with multiple bandaids and wearing loose shoes. 119. Can you spare some light for a kitty?

Two nights ago, a kitty came right up to my door. Now, kitties are always welcome at my home. I can't keep them, but I help any furbaby that needs it.

Well, this poor baby is a filthy skeleton. I couldn't tell at first because it has long hair, but it looked a little skinny, so I fixed it a bowl of food. I pet the kitty and it is nothing more than skin and bones. It's absolutely filthy too (so bad, that it has flies. Not fleas, flies!) It came back last night and is still here. I've kept it fed and watered and have left my garage door ajar for shelter. The kitty is so fragile, I'm afraid I'll hurt it if I try to clean it. (I don't know if it's a boy or girl -- it's too dirty to tell.)

I've never seen this kitty before and haven't found an owner, so I called the Humane Society earlier today to see if they will rescue it. It must have been someone's kitty because it wants to be pet and desperately wants in my house.

My hope is the the HS will rescue the kitty and find it a loving home.

Kitty is starting to look better. I spent all morning callig local vets and animal control to see if I can find its owner.

I'm going to take its picture tonight and send to animal control. They asked for it and they were very helpful. Maybe HS isn't the answer...maybe I can reunite kitty with its owner. That would be nice. :)

122. Request for prayers, energy, peace for my Aunt Ida, who

is 92 yrs. old and, until she fell and broke her shoulder 4 weeks ago, still lived at home on her own. She has had surgery and is now in a nursing home. My uncle has been in this same nursing home for the past 3 years. He has dementia and hasn't been told about my aunt's condition, but keeps asking family members why she hasn't been to see him.

Until this accident, my aunt was sharp as a tack, and feisty to beat, although frail. Now it seems that she has given up and won't even try to get up, fights with her caregivers and sounds very depressed. It doesn't help that I'm in Georgia and she and my uncle are in Texas. They never had children, and nieces and nephews are trying to help out where they can.

This is a very sad situation, and I only hope that my aunt and uncle will both reach the point where they find some sort of peace.

if he is in a lockdown (Alzheimers), he probably has occasional violent outbursts and I would understand why they would not put them together. In which case, I presume, at a good moment they might sit them together under supervision....I thought it was dementia. I will make time, possibly after tomorrow to write my experience of care relating to my mother. In any event, suffice it to say - watch everything they do at the nursing home - however good their rating is.

Spoke with my younger sister this evening. She has a painful lump on her breast and can't get into see a doc until June 13. No insurance.

She's a Pentacostal (currently) but was intrigued by our prayer thread for light and energy and asked if we would help her out by sending her some heavy doses of both. She is very afraid.

I will keep your sister in my prayers. I ask that everything work out so that she is completely healthy and so that the cause of the pain is explained to her and goes away very soon. I'm glad that she's taking it seriously, and I hope that things change so that she can see the doctor sooner so that she doesn't have to worry about the "what if"s for two weeks. Until then, I ask that she be comforted by the Universe.

Finally, I ask the Universe to help change happen in the United States so that people view health care as being a human right rather than something that only people with money or who are lucky enough to have the right job have.
