My kitchen
So I quit driving for the most part. One of the benefits is that I haven't felt road rage in almost three years, and I don't get annoyed by traffic jams anymore.

Once in a while, I do drive, and when something happens where I might be in danger (like I get cut off in traffic) I get an adrenaline rush up my arms. It's nothing huge or terrifying or even disorienting, I can simply feel my body doing what it does to react quickly to danger. Tingles on the forearms, maybe a tightening in my gut. In fact I think I used to be this stressed all the time, so much I couldn't feel it anymore, and it's remarkable how calm my life is today. Just because I quit driving.

What does this have to do with my kitchen? Well that same sensation of needing to react to danger is happening, this adrenaline shot, when I am simply standing in my kitchen. Again, it's not a panic attack, just a perk. Danger. What's that? Look out.

I live in an old home and a friend told me he saw a ghost in my office recently. I don't care about that, I'm cool and welcoming about all that and hope they like what they see. But I _have_ joked for years about there being a 'vortex of negativity' in my kitchen because I tend to sink into lousy and intractable moods while standing in front of my sink washing dishes. That happened to my husband once too. But rationally speaking it could be because the counter's slightly too low and that stresses my back, I am not fond of washing dishes by hand anyway, and standing there doing your 52% makes it easy to think about your better half's 47% if you know what I mean...

But now I'm wondering if my joke has something to it. Danger. Look out. Just on a whim I checked sunspots - my house's electrical system gets weird in solar storms - nothing much.

What should I do?

1. That makes perfect sense, Crikkett
We had a lot of ghostly activity in our first house, as well as kind of "hot spots" that elicited particular feelings. For instance, the downstairs bathroom was Mr. MG's for all intents and purposes--it was where he got ready for work in the morning while I had the upstairs bathroom. And he told me that every morning while he was in the bathroom he'd get this very motherly, loving, supportive feeling, to the point where he believed he could do anything and everything he set his mind to. But it always stopped as soon as he left the bathroom.

My former elder came to check the house out, and even though I didn't tell her what Mr. MG had said, she picked up the presence of a motherly type woman hanging around our downstairs, around where the bathroom was. She also identified several other ghosts (like I said, a LOT of activity) as well as a vortex at our cobblestone fireplace.

So yes, a particular location can have an entity hanging around in that spot, and if it's carrying ickies, you're going to pick up on it. Or it could be an energy vortex.

I would recommend a thorough housecleaning. I detailed it in this post a while back: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=245&topic_id=66155#66169

Holler if you need any assistance! :hi:

2. I need a thorough housecleaning indeed! Plus, I think I found the danger.
:hi:
Thanks MorningGlow!

I just found a large (!!!!) wasp nest outside my kitchen window and I took the screens out of my kitchen windows for airflow.

Yes, I need to clean house. in many ways. Thanks for the instruction you sent, I will do it once I'm done scrubbing (and after the wasps are gone!)

Back to the vortex, and regarding your instruction, I don't think there's evil in my kitchen so much as profound disapproval - which could well be fixed once it's cleaned, you know, and the reason I'm cleaning for the equivalent of a mother-in-law inspection is because I'm asking my landlord to come in to do repairs. Can I PM you with dumb questions?

3. You may find it useful to check for any entities around that need a hand crossing over
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 08:52 PM by Shallah
This is what I do. If you like use it and adapt it to suit or use another method altogether. I ground, shield, and ask for all beings of divine light who are willing to help any entities around go to the place that serves their highest good. Then I offer Reiki and good vibes to the beings of light to relay to the entities if it serves their highest good. On occasion I have actually felt unpleasant entities' energy change as the beings of light heal them from hostility to happy disbelief to joy and finally a nanosecond fast flash of something truly AWEsome as they cross over. Makes me wish I had Sight to see that moment and not just empathy!

Also please consider working with the energy of the land where your home is. For a long time I neglected to do this myself and found it really makes a difference in the quality of energy in my home. When I come home I feel welcomed by the spirits who care for the plants, wildlife and the land itself. I regularly send them Reiki as well as including the property when clearing the energy.

4. Ooh, disapproval--I think I know what you mean!
We have a ghost in our present home (different house from the one I mentioned before) who apparently was around during Prohibition and was quite the teetotaler. I can't tell you how many wineglasses she "helped" us bobble and drop--one, Mr. MG still swears, just "exploded" in front of him, and it was a really thick handblown goblet that couldn't possibly shatter like that. She finally let us keep our remaining few wineglasses after I had a little heart-to-heart with her in the kitchen and asked her not to break any more.

Anyway, feel free to PM me anytime! And as our teachers used to say, "No question is a dumb question!" :hi:

5. Nice catch!
It could be your deep intuition which would be able to pick up on a wasp's nest, even. At least that's my belief. Something else while I was reading this reply, have you thought about checking for other dangers, such as radon, or an appliance leaking something toxic? Are there chemical cleaning products in there that might be more concentrated? Does your husband feel it?
