Please send Healing Vibes to my Goat Casper

She has taken ill and not sure if she is gonna make it:cry: She could use ALL the positive vibes, prayers, and light you guys can send her way.

She stopped eating her grain a few weeks ago but we didn't realize how serious it was, we thought she was just tried of the grain and wanted to eat more leaves. The last couple of days she has pretty much quit eating anything and has developed a cough.

We plan on taking her to a vet today to see if we can get an antibiotic shot and if she may have gotten lung worms, and hopefully we can buy some deworming medicine.

Anyway here's a pic of my little Casper and her best friend Poppy. They are the sweetest little goats I've ever had the pleasure of having and would like to keep them a little longer. I don't know what Poppy would do without her precious Casper. They have been girlfreinds for a long time.

19. I thought I would update everyone on Casper's condition

At the present time we don't have a lot of extra money to do everything we can to help out our precious Casper. However, MrMagick has been researching everything he could about her symptoms on the web, that's what lead him to believe she has some sort of worms. Apparently goats get all kinds of worms and there are so many it's hard to pinpoint which one Casper has, but we think it is the lungworm. MrMagick went to the animal market and bought some medicine for her and we gave her the two doses as instructed on the label. We also talked with the vet and he told us we bought the right kind of medicine to try and treat her condition.

She hasn't eaten in a few days, and she hasn't been drinking water. Today I forced fed her some leaves, a couple slices of really good peaches, and forcing water as much as she will allow me to give her. Her condition hasn't improved and she is crying in pain. She hasn't been able to lay down in I don't know how long. Her legs must be so tired from standing up:cry:

She is having labored breathing and coughing. I try and massage her legs and using Chi energy to try and ease her pain. I don't think it's working.


We got Casper and Poppy from my in-laws after my FIL passed away in '03. Charlie and I were very close and he loved those girls as much as I do. We would go and harvest pears together to feed the girls. They loved Charlie. We could have let my BIL take them back to his ranch but we were afraid that the coyetes would have killed them so we brought them to live with us in '05. They were still living at the in-laws until we sold their house.

We made them a make shift house from a trailer Charlie made and added a top for shelter from the rain. Goats hate to get wet.

I don't know how Poppy will survive without Casper. Goats need companionship and Casper and Poppy have lived together since they were kids.

I just hope Casper can make the transition either to getting better or going to be in a better place. It's just so damn hard to lose her like this. I'm feeling guilty that I didn't do something sooner:cry:

I saw your post, but did not have a chance until now to post...

I understand, it is very hard to watch something you love so much suffer that way. May healing and many more years of a good life be, for Casper.

i am a goat aficionado and have been on dairy goat lists for years. they are such smart and sweet animals. i think all barnyard animals are sweet, but the goat is SO smart and friendly. good luck.
