Our missing cat has returned!
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 03:18 AM by BlueIris
As some of you know, one of our outdoor kitties, Mamma Cat, had been missing for a while now. For reasons known only to her and Spirit, she decided to come home today. She is back on her heating pad with some crunchies and milk beside her.

Thanks for all the light you sent to get her back to us.

4. Well, a heating pad, crunchies and milk sound like a permanent vacation...
to me. I don't think that I'd ever want to leave! :)

You're right though, if she's a free spirit, she may just have needed to spread her "wings" and experience a little bit of excitement out on the road.

5. We really have no idea what sent her off.
We do have that new kitten, who is still very feisty, but we've had new cats every couple of years since we've lived here and Mamma has only taken off like this one other time. Hopefully, now that it's getting colder, the heating pad will be a lure that effectively keeps her here.

6. Does she look well taken care of?
I wonder if someone "adopted" her for a bit? I often wonder if my Baby cat wandered away from a home last year, as she is declawed.

7. She's thinner, which makes us think a temporary home was not involved.
She's almost entirely feral, which is why we were worried about her (as far as we know, we're the only house around here that reliably takes care of strays and feral animals).

9. Hurray! Cats are really something.
My friend had a male cat (he was neutered), who would disappear for as long as a month on occasion.
She said he was on his 'walkabout' (as in Australian aborigines' rite of passage), and just got used to it. He always came back skinnier but not the least bit traumatized or seemingly affected. I would have a hard time not worrying, but she says if he were to die on his 'walk about' he would die a happy fellow, and that she didn't have the heart to keep him penned up inside all the time.

Anyway, so glad your girl found her way home. I hope it was a great adventure.

10. Good news!
So glad your kitteh is back with you. Here's hoping her little trip into the wide world cured her of roaming for a good long while! :hi:

13. I am so glad to hear this.
I lost 3 cats in the last 4 years, and while I know better, I still find myself looking for them and waiting for them to show up.
