I'm a Virgo - Saturday night a friend came rushing up with this question
We were at a wedding reception in Wichita that evening. Two of her kids are Virgos, and she knows Mr. DTBK and I are both Virgos. She asked if we were having a bad year. I told her mine's been okay except for my back problems, losing my job and an unfortunate incident with my sister, but that I have been feeling slightly off kilter and that all is not right with the world. I told her I've pretty much felt this way for the last 8 years, however. Mr. DTBK is having problems at his job and is looking for another position elsewhere. She told me her older Virgo son is having all sorts of problems at his job.

Does anyone believe this is a tough year for Virgos? This may be a stupid question, but I found it interesting that she asked me this.

1. I'm an expert by no means, but...
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 02:13 PM by I Have A Dream
maybe it has something to do with Saturn being in Virgo. Transiting Saturn would have been conjunct the natal Sun for any Virgo who has their Sun in early Virgo.

Now let's hear what the experts say. I can only recognize really in-your-face types of things.

2. I'm a Virgo.
The first half of this year was crap. I got divorced after more than twenty-five years of marriage (he met someone he decided he'd rather be with about two years ago), and because I was accommodating and low-key about it I wound up getting a lot less money than I had expected. BUT, the divorce was final the day before my 60th birthday. A month earlier I moved from Kansas to Santa Fe, where I found a wonderful apartment and have settled in with my three cats. I'm looking for work as a paralegal, and while nothing has turned up yet I feel as if it is just a matter of time.

For nearly a year I felt depressed and like nothing would ever be good for me again. Now I'm feeling very optimistic and hopeful.

And of course, all of us Virgos were born in different years and at different times within the sign and in different places, so we all have very different charts. So I have no idea what is actually going on astrologically with me, but you asked and this is my story.

3. This has been the worst year I can remember.
From April through August, it's just been one thing after another... huge trouble with my mother, health problems, two dental emergencies, multiple car problems, lost a big job through no fault of my own, $554 sewer problem, cats got fleas (they never go outside, so I don't know how that happened!), took me a month to find a doctor, estranged husband pressing for divorce, water pouring into basement from all the rain, etc.etc. It's been MISERABLE. I feel things are lifting just in the past week. My birthday is tomorrow.

4. Saturn is in transit in Virgo for a few years-it will hit by degree
planets that are in Virgo (Sun, Moon, etc.) It will have a strong effect on anyone who has a natal Saturn in Virgo--many (saturn) lessons to be learned.

5. Virgo problems
Our Virgo son is having a difficult year, difficult relationship in spite of his progressed M.C. trine his 7th house Sun. Saturn hasn't hit any of his four Virgo planets yet, but just having it in the sign seems to have had an effect.

7. Virgos
it does not have to be bad - no. It is tough however for everyone as Saturn in Virgo is quite the taskmaster. On the other hand, I'm actually finding that most of my Virgo clients are doing quite well as they are used to the "Virgo pressures". It is what you make it - I believe. Don't EVER believe anyone who gives you doomsday advice - I try real, real hard to give it. It is tempting. Virgo simply means to clean up loose ends and work hard at applying yourself. Saturn is seldom easy, but you can rest easy, tis not a curse.

9. What exactly
is Saturn's lesson? I have a tricky natal Saturn, and I would like to rid myself of the karmic implications. I'm willing to DO.

12. well, actually if that is the degree

almost 4 Scorpio for your Natal Saturn - 4th house - the lessons of the 4th generally relate to home, marriage, domestic situations in childhood/adulthood. Scorpio can be very controlling, possessive especially in the 4th-wants to 'run their own show'-possible confrontations with anyone you may live with. You would need to see your entire chart setup to get the aspects on this--the interactions, etc. If this is the degree of Saturn and NOT your birthdate (3-18-57-that wld be Sat in Sagittarius) then you already know about aspects to Saturn, conjunctions, squares, etc. The lesson of Saturn is learning 'how to let go' (of the personality masks) and definitely face the shadow side of ourselves-what we fear to see about ourselves we often project onto others. Sounds like pop psych, but it's true-Saturn is a taskmaster, if you don't get the lesson, you keep repeating it. If you need a good chart site-try www.astro.com

13. Thanks.
That's where I did my chart, and yes, that is the degree. Lots of problems with anyone I live with, check. I can barely live with myself. I don't know about aspects. I just used copy/paste :0

I've been on a mission for about 8 years to incorporate the shadow. I think it's almost there.
I can't say I'm thrilled with the results so far. We need a thread on shadow work. Do you know a lot about that?

14. sure-welcome, shadow work thread, interesting, good topic...

Carl Jung did tons of work on the shadow/persona and of course Liz Greene is so versed in this area being a psychologist and an astrologer. I do this on an invidual basis when I do chart work for people. I always interview over the phone before I agree to do a chart session because I have no interest in simply a superficial interpretation of the chart 'blueprint'--although I do offer the potential of event dates, etal

15. Is that why my life is such a mess lately?
I am having a very hard time. My birthday, Aug. 31, was my 60th. It was the worst I can ever remember.

Things need to turn around for me. I can't keep getting hit with stuff.
