okay ladies, this is serious . . .
http://www.talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html

Those guys are a total hoot.

I just sent Raymo an e-mail to remind him that he *must* wear his "International Talk Like A Pirate Day" T shirt tomorrow which he adamantly feels is completely inappropriate to wear on any other single day of the year. I figure, he'd better get my 20 dollars worth of wear and I'd better get my fair share vicarious laughs out of my enormous investment. Such a conditional giver am I. So I guess I'll have to remind him of it for many, many years to come. I'm rarely bossy with him.

Funnily enough, I just learned from a flyer at the local Commons that my birthday is International Coastal Cleanup Day !!!

Woohoo!!! I feel so honored and will dutifully participate.

]Just understand I'm not at all gender biased.

I keep hearing Caribou Barbie's "guys & gals. . ." sound bite that Steph Miller keeps playing incessantly in my cranium.

Yikes.

But more seriously, I saw what dear MG posted earlier in terms of Doreen Virtue's suggestion for the election.

I've been on this track for a while.. . .

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=364&topic_id=2589421

Still, In as much as people kvetch and moan about the obvious reality of yet another election fraud, I feel deeply that we can do something about it, with our hearts and our minds

I'd like to reprise the prayer from '06.

Any suggestions would be totally welcomed, accredited, and widely accepted.

Liv you all,

5. I'll make sure that everyone at work respects this day for what it is.
Shiver me timbers! (Not quite sure what that means but...)

On an even more important note, Happy early birthday, my dear friend!

LOL

Get this.

Raymo came down to the kitchen for breakfast. He is not at all a morning person and tends to sleep walk at 6:30 am. He was not wearing the designated T shirt and I inquired as to why he was not. It's my singular attempt of dictating a dress code in his entire life.

I got no response as he munched his cereal.

Then he went upstairs to brush his teeth and snag his socks and I cornered him in his room and said, "why aren't you wearing that T shirt. . .? "

He sleepily said, "Because Goths so-o-o embrace this day.

I said, "Really . . .?"

He said, " Yeah . . .They all come to school in full pirate regalia."

I said, "So I wasted the 20 bucks . . .?"

He said, "No I'll wear it again. Just not at *this* High School."

I've been giggling about his phraseology ever since.

I'm so not a disciplinarian.

10. Hey, he has an image to maintain!
:D

By the way, I have everyone in my group at work talking like a pirate! We're all so extremely tired that the levity has really helped with the stress. Yay you!

:bounce:

12. ahoy & oy
Could this possibly mean that you and your coworkers are a bunch of closeted Goths masquerading as office workers masquerading as pirates . . .?

Or am I reading too much into this phenomenon. . .?

Or is it not necessarily in that order. . . ?

Glad you're having fun.

When I read your response I was listening to a really fascinating segment with an authoress who wrote a book about women pirates on this show . . .

http://www.here-now.org/

They conducted the interview in honour of this auspicious holiday.

Consider streaming it later.

I'm a total Elizibethian Tudor England freak.

That's when I most recently learned astro stuff under the looney John Dee persuaded by QE 1's rather persuasive suggestion.

The segment lasts slightly less than 10 minutes and IMHO is well worth a listen.

A little levity goes a long way for sure.

:loveya:

8. Visualize a sane White House
and wise people in power. Each time you read a bit of news that appears to be bad for Obama, do a quick visualization, and say, "President Obama overcomes these things."

9. Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!
Sarah Palin has been good for laughs and I'm trying to be optimistic that she won't get into the East Wing of the White House. If she and McGramps do manage to pull it off, I'm gonna need a case of that rum. :yoiks:

11. LOL Stella, you crack me up!
"Guys and gals..." I'm a Steph addict too, although our liberal talk radio station was sold to Entercom and they switched it to a SPORTS station :puke: so now I have to listen to the live Stephcast, which has been having issues lately--a victim of the coming Merc Ret? Anyway, I find myself repeating at odd times, "Tyodd--he's my gyuyyyy!"

Glad you like Doreen's affirmation--I thought it was sweet of Editor Kathy to ask for something from her. I think McCain will not be elected legally, but they will try to steal it again. The interesting thing is that the shadow gov't isn't trying very hard to put him in office--not with as much concerted effort as they did with Georgie (McCain lacks the influence of Cheney and George Sr.), so maybe that'll help. Along with our work, of course!

OOGA BOOGA SMOOGA WOOGA!

PS--Raymo rocks! Nonconformists unite! Hee!
