3. I also wanted to add
I think that, due to certain technological advances, we can build our own day-to-day realities. For example, I hardly ever listen to regular radio because I have my iPod full of Coast to Coast programs. Right now I'm listening to a station from a site Rumpel recommended on another thread (Cafe Cody).

I don't have to deal much with business because I'm in education. The little bit I do have to deal with (web studio business) is in areas that I like, like florists and that sort of thing.

TV? Forget it. My husband and I order British comedies from Netflix and that's mostly what we watch, except for Keith and Rachel.

9. Well I think tonight's Coast to Coast
is about the economy. So you might want to skip it.

I know more about the economy than I do about astrology, which is not saying much! But I sort of think in macroeconomic terms, which makes me a little strange I guess.

2. any of it
In a country that seems to think money is the raison d'etre, this financial crisis is being treated like the end of the world.

I have been ignoring the media since the financial crisis started and I'm finding my world much more livable, calmer, and more peaceful. The birds still chirp, the bees still nuzzle into the flowers, and kitties still need their ears scratched and their tummies tickled.

It's only when I go into a store or a post office that has the media on that I get this feeling of "the sky is falling."

So I have to question how much good it does to be "tuned in." Practically speaking, none of us know how many days we have left. I'm not going to let the media set the tone for my daily existence.

5. Today I thought about this pendulum known as the bailout. The
sky is falling unless the banks are bailed out. It was reminding me of 2000. Remember the financial crisis because the computers were not calculated to think about 2000. People were doing outlandish worrying over this.

I laughed so hard when I got to that part of Michael Moore's piece about the Rich Staging a Coup.

Too funny.

7. He forgot flesh eating bacteria!!!!!!! and shark attacks!!!!!!!
You notice when it is the poor suffering the media does not express such concern. It is when the wealthy that are at high risk that gets this panic cuz they are worried about their own investments being worthless. THAT hit's 'em where they live. Then it's push the PANIC button and do their best to trigger everyone's amygdala.

Didn't some show once parody this sort of reporing where a reporter said nothing but Fear! Panic! Fear fear fear PANIC. or was it something I dreamed once???

lol! Isn't THAT the truth.

Television provides us with parodies of themselves all the time.
That's why I think The Onion is more redundant than parody.
It goes in the 'truth is stranger than fiction' section.
