My longest quit yet

Since Sunday I've had five cigarettes,
and as of right now I've been smoke-free for 52 hours, cold turkey.
Addiction is one nasty so-and-so, for the first day I was quite despondent, perhaps even approaching suicidal.

I've been having that butterflies-in-stomach sensation in strange places,
like the soles of my feet and my butt.

Oh, please may I have some positive energy towards my teeth?
I don't know if there's a cause and effect here,
but two of them have broken since this quit,
and I've got no resources to get them fixed.

1. Hang in there!
You can do it. I know how you feel. When I quit, I think I was depressed for a month. Now, I am grateful everyday that I quit. I cannot tell you how many times I've thought that I'm glad I don't smoke anymore.

(Are you clenching your teeth? If so, you can buy an inexpensive mouth guard from a CVS or Walgreens and sleep with it.)

2. I quit 10 years ago
I know what you are going through.

Hold on, it gets easier. In fact, the first 48 hours are the worst and you made it! You don't ever want to go through that again.

My guess is that you are grinding your teeth at night. Ouch in the AM and cracked teeth are the results. I'm sure if you had a couple of cracked teeth already, they would break from the pressure.

Sending you light for your teeth, and light for success quitting smoking.

You are now a non-smoker!

Be sure to drink lots of pure water. And, take epsom salt baths. If you have a little lavender oil (to add to bath), that could help with your mood. You should probably increase vitamin C, even if it just means drinking more OJ.

I'm going to be joining you very soon. I'll be reading this book again:
http://www.amazon.com/Easy-Way-Stop-Smoking-Non-Smokers/dp/1402718616/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1226093660&sr=1-1
It really makes you not want to smoke, but without using fear tactics or telling you stuff you already know about health effects.

Just think. You will have more disposable income now, and maybe dental work will be more within reach.

I'm rooting for you!

9. Did you find that you
needed to sleep a lot? When I go on car trips with my mother, I cannot help her drive because without cigarettes, I can't keep my eyes open/stay awake. That happens any time I'm in a situation where I cannot smoke.

I'm thinking when I quit, I'll have to allow a few days at home because I may be too sleepy to go anywhere! Did you find yourself sleeping more?

10. sleep has been very wierd

I'm not quite sure what to make of that part yet.
It definitely helped that I was able to sleep for 14 hours on the second day.
Being able to stay home for a few days is a huge help.

8. I quit cold turkey almost twenty years ago. The addiction takes
some time to go away, but the rewards in the future are worth it. Just keep that in mind every day that one day you will be free. You won't have to plan your day anymore around when and where you can smoke. Your clothes will smell good. Your house and car will be clean. You will be surprised at how badly tobacco slime coats the walls, drapes and everything around you not to mention your lungs. The thing to keep in mind is not to feel that you can have just one cigarette. Now I did a little psycho trick on myself about this. I told myself I could smoke on Sundays. So every time I wanted a cig so badly it hurt, I told myself to hold out until Sunday. When Sunday came I tried to hold of as long as I could before I had one. Midnight was the cut off date for no cigs until the next Sunday. In about three weeks I was able to go all day Sunday without a smoke which meant I had to wait another week. I never had a cigarette after that.

As far as your teeth, tobacco does bad things to your teeth but I don't think quitting had anything to do with them breaking. The timing was coincidental. Now that you aren't spending money on tobacco you will have money to pay towards getting your teeth taken care of. You should try to find a dentist who is willing to given you some temporary caps until you can afford the dental work you need.

Last, keep busy to keep your mind off of smoking. You might be surprised how much you get done. Starting a new interest or project to engross you is good too.

Lastly, good luck! I'm sending you all the positive energy I can.

11. My heart stings

I had a slip, back to the beginning,
but now I know that I am strong enough to weather the worst part,
I even lit one of my bandmates' cigarettes with a huge grin on my face as I had no desire to ask him for one.

Then I caught wind that my new romance seems ended...
I am so sad and weary of being lonely.
The dominoes fell...

Perhaps it's time I resigned myself to being alone,
and to work on myself for the remainder of this Pluto transit...

12. Isn't that 14 more years?
.. the Pluto transit?

Addictions touch us on every level. You had an emotional set back. Like you said, you can physically weather the storm. And, yeah, when we give up addictions, we have to find alternate coping mechanisms. AFGO . another friggin growth opportunity.

13. Oh, I mean my personal Pluto transit

conjunct Ascendant, opposite Sun, square Mars, and square Pluto.
I think another year before it lightens up.
