Update on the "Journey to Wild Divine" game.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=245x7927

I played for about an hour yesterday & today & it is amazing.
I was able to relax very quickly.

The graphics & music are beautiful & the task you do to control your energy & breath are really cool.

I was surprised at how relaxed I was after I finished & how long it stayed with me.

We had tornado warnings yesterday & I remained calm even though my husband was at a baseball game & I had no idea how he was. He was fine!

1. Thanks for the update. So you would recommend it to people?
Edited on Sun Jun-05-05 12:54 PM by Dover
I just wonder how often it would get used. I've considered it as a gift for a couple of people, but haven't done it because I haven't actually used it myself......and wonder if it's something that is really just a novelty, or perhaps too quick to master, or if it's user friendly and valuable and would get a lot of use.

And what age people would get the most benefit?

2. I would recommend it.
I have not had it long enough to really answer your other questions although I feel like it is something I could play over & over again. I don't know about age, younger children might be bored.

4. I have been playing for approximately an hour each day since
Saturday & I really notice a difference in my level of calmness.
I did dream I was in the game last night & it was wonderful.

5. I'd like to echo some of what Dover said
chiefly, what sort of replay value do you anticipate?

And, is there any hint of future, lower-priced releases for those who
already have the input device? What details of gameplay can you relate
without giving too much away? Is there a plot or is it just a series
of exercises?

8. well, I went to the website
is there a plot? looks like it. at the very least more than a series
of disconnected exercises.

future releases? in the works.

and, having glanced at their forums a little, it looks like there is
room for people outside of WildDivine to develop stuff for the
biofeedback device.

so I ordered it.

9. You will have to let us all know what you think.
There is a plot of sorts. You have to accomplish certain tasks to get to new places and find items and you accomplish the tasks by relaxing or upping you energy level.
I have noticed that I have been using the "peace breath" at work when things get stressful (which is most of the time) and it has really helped keep me calm.

10. I read the message board
looking for any healthful benefits to people using the game and didnt see much. I would be interested in positive results anyone has that carry over into reallife after game play is over.
So if your blood pressure goes down etc I would like to know!:)

11. I thought I would give myself a little more time playing before I
replied to your question. I can only speak for my self, but I have really noticed a difference in how I am handling stress.

Work has been insanely, stressful the last couple of weeks & I have been able to do my relaxation breathing & calm down before I lose it.(for the most part)

For the last 2 weeks I have played for at least a half an hour before I go to bed & I believe it has helped me sleep better as well.

I am not saying that it works any better than any other regular relaxation/meditation would, I just find it more enjoyable.

12. my first impressions
I've played for a couple hours and haven't gotten very far yet.
I like it. It forces you to become aware of small subtleties in your
breathing if you want to master certain tasks. It can be frustrating
while you're getting used to it. In one part you have to light a fire
by breathing a certain way. A tiny little flame appeared after what
seemed an eternity. I got a little excited, and the flame promptly
snuffed out. A little later I revisited one of the earlier exercises,
cultivated an attitude of "I don't care what that stupid ball does as
long as I'm breathing evenly and deeply." Not long after reaching that
state of mind the ball floated off screen and I felt rather blissful.
Then I got up and felt a certain lightness and easiness about me as I
walked around.

14. I reached the end
I thought it was a little short, but I think there are many areas
worth revisiting numerous times. It definitely becomes more challenging
as you progress, and you can influence how challenging an "energy event,"
as they are called, is by relaxing or un-relaxing before initiating,
since they are all relative to your state upon initiation. I hope that
was clear.

Some of the music is awesome, some horrible.

Navigation can be frustrating, and the map isn't as useful as it
ought to be.

I've found that the general relaxedness stays with me for at least a
couple days even if I don't play for a while. A situation at work
recently that usually would throw me into a simmering rage was merely
irritating.

The last time I played guitar directly after playing the game for an
hour or so, my fingers felt lighter and nimbler and I made fewer
mistakes.

15. I was also surprised at how soon I finished it.
I did start a new game & plan on taking it a bit slower.
I try to play for at least a half an hour each evening & it has made a noticeable change in my stress level & my sleep.
I think I would like to live at the heart temple, it is so beautiful & restful. The fact that I love water does not hurt either.
