Where are my keys?
I misplaced my main set of keys Saturday evening and have not been able to find them. I've been doing some heavy duty straightening up today and still have not found them.
Does anyone get a hit or a feeling as to where these keys are hiding?
I hope you don't mind my asking such a question here.

1. I would think this would be the best place to ask that
:)

I don't actively train myself to being sensitive that way, but when you mentioned "heavy duty straightening" (something I need to do, too) I got the vision of boxes, like for storage. Either they fell into one, or you straightened up too well and they're stored away now ;)

I hope you find them and that others here help out as well

6. Boxes?
Hmmm. I have one box in the apartment and will look through it after I finish checking the bathroom.
Thanks for the response.

9. boxes or anything you would store things in
like in a closet or under the bed.

Let us know when you do find them and where they were :)

5. I will put that next on my list

I'm cleaning out my dresser drawers to see if the keys fell in an open drawer by mistake. Once I finish that, I'm off to the bathroom and will clean and organize there thoroughly.
Thanks -- I think you might have something with this suggestion.

11. No, not there
I went through it thoroughly. I opened up all the drawers, emptied them, shook the towels in there -- nothing. Moved everything around on the floor and looked behind fixtures -- not there. Also looked in the medicine cabinet.
Darn --- I thought you had the right idea.

4. I wasn't wearing a coat the last time I used them.
Edited on Mon Feb-16-09 06:33 PM by Sanity Claws
Let me explain. I brought my laundry up from the basement and used my keys to get back into the apartment. I was dressed (w/o a coat) and was planning to leave a few minutes after bringing up the laundry. After putting down the laundry and doing a few little things around the apt., I wanted to leave but couldn't find my keys. I searched everywhere but they have to be here somewhere.

Thanks, Kooka. I appreciate your response and thoughts.

Edited to add thanks.

7. Hmm, let's see...
I see them in a dark place. Could they have slipped down between the cushions of a chair or behind something?

30. Did you leave your keys in your door?
Sometimes, I forget to remove mine when I enter the house with my hands full. If you did, someone may have taken them.

10. brown or tan
is the image I got--something tan or brown on top of them.

Try this prayer:

Dear St. Anthony, look around--something's lost that must be found.

You don't have to be Catholic to have it work--just remember to thank the saint when the keys are located.

13. I'm going to take a break
I'm going for a walk. That will clear my mind and maybe will leave a space for one of my guides to jump in and tell me where they are. I will also ask St. Anthony for help during my walk.

14. One important thing just occurred to me:
Have you created any garbage in your straightening? I hope you haven't taken the garbage out yet... :o

That could be a "dark place" too.

20. I threw out garbage
It was a bag in the kitchen near the sink. I genuinely can't imagine being anywhere near it when the keys were lost.
I did check recycling containers -- not there.

16. I'm not psychic in the least, but...
from experience, know that the keys tend to be in a coat or pants pocket. "I swear I checked and they weren't there!" After a few hundred dollars spent on making new keys, guess where they're eventually found?

19. My pants had pockets
but were not in there. I wore them the rest of Saturday night and the pockets are so shallow that there's no way keys could hide in there.
I didn't have a jacket or coat on when I last had the keys.
Good idea but no cigar. ;(

I emptied out the laundry bag and put everything away. I had brought the comforter up separately and took it off the bed, shook it and checked around the bed. Nada.
Thanks for the thought.

21. I have given up
I really appreciate everyone's contribution but I have torn this apartment apart looking for the keys and can't find them. As I said, this is so perplexing because I know I had them just a few minutes before they went missing and know they must be somewhere in the apartment.
I'll just make a copy from the second set and hope the copies of the copies are good enough.
Night-night, everyone.

23. Maybe you will dream about it
I'm not at all psychic. But I have a lot of experience. I would say 1. look on the SHELVES of closets. When you open a closet sometimes you put something down on the shelf. I found some keys that way, about six months after I had them all replaced.

Then, not only remove the cushions, but reach back underneath them. Stick your hand in the crevices and feel around. I have some stories about that too.

24. If you live in a complex,
maybe someone turned them into lost and found? If you dropped them. I'm reminded of a time when my ex's friend stayed with us. He came home drunk and couldn't get in. He slept in the car. His keys were missing the next morning. We searched the car and parking lot. Finally, I thought of a different staircase, and the keys were stuck into someone else's door. Not that that's what happened here. But, strange things happen with lost stuff. I'm a bit superstitious about it. I don't like to give up, but sometimes that's the only option left. Then it turns up.

26. Interesting site
I tried it and it said that the missing item has been moved and I should look in items of transportation (or something like that). I know it's not in the car because I haven't used the car in a week. Oh well.
Thanks for the idea.

29. I have nothing to offer but sympathy.
I used to live in an apartment where the door locked automatically when I went outside. As I recall, it could not be fixed NOT to lock. Anyway, I put a note beside the door knob that said DON'T FORGET KEYS. It worked for a while, and then the note became invisible to me.

I am so paranoid about losing or misplacing keys that I have multiple sets at hand. I've been trying to figure out a good place outside my current apartment to hide a spare house key in case I manage to lock myself outside here, but can't find one.

Do you have a car or office where you could leave your extra set of keys?

36. I FOUND THEM!
They had fallen through the lining of my pocket and had lodged in the lining of my coat. I found them this morning when I put on my coat and the coat felt unusually heavy.

I must have put my keys in my coat pocket as I going out last Saturday, they fell through the lining, and because I didn't feel my keys in my pocket, I went looking for them and couldn't find them.
Mystery solved. Now I have to find some needle and thread and sew up that hole in the lining of my pocket.

Thanks for everyone's help!
