A strange post about "Junk Suit".

I had the strangest thing happen the other night.

I was in bed on the brink of sleep, sort of half-dreaming already. Loudly in my head I heard the words "junk suit" and for some reason they filled me with terror.

I woke up fully and still kept hearing those words go through my mind. I repeated them to myself in my head, trying to make sense of them, and every time I did I was filled with the same sense of dread, over and over. It was actually a flight-or-fight feeling, it was so intense. I had a very hard time getting to sleep after that.

My question is: :wtf: I have NO idea where this came from!

On edit: I Googled it and all I could find was some Japanese comic-book stuff about a superhero that wears a "Junk" suit. But I don't think that has anything to do with it...

1. Junk suit = frivolous lawsuit

in the vernacular of Republicans.
Are you in a business and may be the subject of a frivolous lawsuit? I certainly hope not but that is the only meaning I know of.

2. Two incidents come to mind.

The first one is a friend who was taking an out of body course and first awakened to hearing 2 people talking about her progress, and then found the 2 standing right there in the room. Long story but she scared the 2 by her own fright and they just vanished.

The second is I used to frequently hear conversations or just phrases just as I feel asleep. Once a man and woman were talking about which one of them should pick up their son. That was the craziest :crazy: I found that it's called hypnogogic sleep. Since understanding it a little bit, it's diminished because I think I just wave it off as nothing. Or when it gets too intense and keeps me awake I ask that it please STOP and it does.

Here's a wiki explanation of the sounds that can accompany hypnogogia:

Hypnagogic imagery is often auditory or has an auditory component. Like the visuals, hypnagogic sounds vary in intensity from faint impressions to loud noises, such as crashes and bangs (exploding head syndrome). People may imagine their own name called or a doorbell ringing. Snatches of imagined speech are common. While typically nonsensical and fragmented, these speech events can occasionally strike the individual as apt comments on – or summations of – their thoughts at the time. They often contain wordplay, neologisms and made-up names. Hypnagogic speech may manifest as the subject’s own ‘inner voice’, or as the voices of others: familiar people or strangers. More rarely, poetry or music is heard

Perhaps you're scared of those 2 words because it's maybe the first time this has happened and our first instincts are fight or flight, so it may not be threatening at all. The examples of Hypnagogia says it can involve made up names. I haven't checked it out as it relates to the paranormal but perhaps there are some connections that will put your mind at ease. 3. frivolous lawsuit was the 1st thing I thought of, too

Do you have deep pockets and reason to fear one? Are planning a law suit against someone else and your inner voice is warning you off?

Otherwise, I'd guess that either
1. you're picking up on somebody else's feelings (highly empathic myself, I suspect there may be such a thing as "free-floating emotional energy," similar to Jung's "collective unconscious"), or
2. it was a random neurological firing that your brain interpreted as best it could.

like a suit. claustrophobic, hence the intense reaction flight or fight. do you fight to keep that junk, for comfort.... or

8. Here's another

very off-the-wall explanation. Perhaps you somehow heard two people who were actually talking, and who actually said those words, but those people have no connection to you. Somehow you just heard them. And maybe the dread you experienced, while correctly connected to "junk suit" again has no applicability to you.

Another possibility is that it was simply an auditory hallucination and isn't something that's about to happen to you.

Experiences like this can be scary, regardless of the source or cause.

9. Amitten, had one this morning!

Funny, after posting a response to your original. I took a nap before starting my next work assignment. Before falling asleep I heard and saw my youngest sister (who has Aspberger's) saying, "I'm invisible" while crying and I started crying while our foreheads were touching. I was distraught but couldn't wake up, so I quickly asked for a meaning before falling deeper into sleep. I woke up remembering yesterday that I tried to say Hi to her when I was talking to my Mom but she had already left the room. I realized that I've been feeling guilty for not greeting her sooner before my mom and I finished our conversation. During the busyness of the day, I'd forgotten all about it. Maybe you might try asking for an explanation before sleeping or insight while awake, because it may be related to a deeper emotion that you've completely forgotten that needs attention.

I did the same (asked for clarification) after that recent strange dream I had, of my friend finding a green marble statue of Brigid. I had another dream when I dozed off lightly the following day or the day after, when I was waiting for MG Jr. to fall asleep.

I added it to the bottom of that thread, but if anyone missed it: "This time I was in a room, and my friend came in. I turned around to greet him, and I was wearing a necklace made of the same stone that the statue was carved from. It was a triple strand of large stone discs, the largest, on the bottom strand in the center, as wide across as my palm. Just massive. I realized that of course the stone is Connemara marble. Figures, right? Ireland...Brigid...Connemara marble. Anyway, I found it significant that I was wearing the same stone that the statue was made from."

11. Another funny thing, Amitten.

While in the flow of work this afternoon, I heard a voice say, you had that conversation with Mr. Blue in the future. It didn't actually say Mr. Blue but his name. I have to wear headphones while editing transcripts and I have to listen with full attention, so I know that I didn't dream it up. Had to stop working because it was getting to me. It hit me while remembering the conversation between the couple trying to decide who should pick their son up, that at least five years later when my husband's ex-wife died, who should pick up my step-son from school was a minor schedule juggling problem that took a while to settle. It was an intense time, our whole lifestyle changed, and I've never related that conversation to events quickly following her death.

I've got chills and an unsettling feeling because this Hypnogogic state before falling asleep has more to it than I initially realized. But I'm so glad you posted.

I am asking the Spirit of Understanding to reveal what those two words mean and to completely dampen your fear.

Your OP certainly had me going yesterday with the hypnogog or the OP simply brought it up to awareness. My last response was a feeble attempt to try getting the feelings and observations across :thumbsdown: Sorry about that.

In my 1st response, I recounted one of those snippets of conversations from a few years ago I clearly remember between a man and woman trying to figure out who should pick up their son. I just thought it was random nonsense until I was interrupted while working by a voice that said, it was me and Mr. Blue having the conversation. But the actual event, that I didn't connect, didn't take place until years later. It was a stunning and unsettling revelation in a Twilight Zonish way.

I was trying to say that I never really gave the altered state right before sleeping any deep consideration. It seems that it can range from the nonsensical to prophetic to psychological issues just bubbling to the surface. And for that I thank you for posting even though you were scared :hug: In the long run, those 2 dreadful words may mean nothing, but if it's not too personal and you want to share, I'm really interested in what you eventually make of it.
