HAVE YOU GOT THE POWER?
HAVE YOU GOT THE POWER?

Nov 15 2004

Exclusive By Jane Simon

K ELLY Brook's new boyfriend Billy Zane boasts that he's able to make contact with people on the other side of the world during out-of-body experiences.

Kylie Minogue claims that she is often visited by the spirit of her dead ex-lover Michael Hutchence. And actress Sharon Stone started dating film producer Bill McDonald after a psychic told her they had been together in a previous life.

But you don't have to be a celebrity to believe in the paranormal. A recent MORI poll showed that an astonishing seven out of 10 of us are convinced that psychic powers, telepathy and communicating with the dead are all possible.

And three out of 10 of us think that near-death experiences prove there really is an after-life.

Half of women questioned have visited a psychic and a quarter of them say they changed their lives as a result...cont'd

1. I had a dream that I was a driver in the Navy.
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 05:45 PM by Ilsa
The details of the dream were that we were in a rescue helo flying north, and there was coastline on my left, and we were going out on a rescue mission.

Then a few days later my ex-boyfriend "visited" me late one night when I was asleep. He was vague, but I knew it was him because I could smell him. The light around him was silver grey and pale yellow. I think it was his astral spirit. He was living on the other side of the world. He seemed upset and he was saying, "I just need to tell you..." About two weeks later I got a letter from him, the only time I had contact with him in about a year, telling me that "Mike", a mutual friend in the Navy, had died in a plane crash off the east coast.

The other weird part about this story was that once I was on a ski boat with "Mike" and some other Navy pilot people. My head was clear. A voice came to me and said one of the young men would die "soon". As I looked around the boat, the voice said "No" until I looked at "Mike". I asked my boyfriend, who was very superstitious, if he wanted em to tell him about my premonition and he said no, he didn't want to hear it because he was afraid that saying it would make it come true.

I've had others, including a friend (terminal with cancer in another city) who had died that knew that I hadn't been told of his death. He kept trying to come into my plane of view. I kept getting a feeling I was being watched (the cad was watching me get dressed in the morning). I wasn't sure it was him, but when I was cooking one Saturday he tried again. I spoke outloud to him and invited him to stay and visit, but I never had the sense of his presence again. I spoke with his sister a few days later and found out that he had died a couple of weeks before, and my name was on the list of people to call, but for some reason his secretary missed it.

There are more...
BTW, I do not behave with superstition. I am not superstitious, just to clarify.

Is this what you're talking about re: "power"?

2. I have a touch of this power....
For there are certain people like my daughter, a sister, and friends of mine who share thoughts with me simultaneously sometimes.

With these people I will feel a feeling for them, or think about them, and the phone will ring with them on the line. I have one girlfriend (who I do not see very often) where the contact is uncanny in that I will dream about her, and without fail, the next day I will encounter her out in the park or on the city streets....so WEIRD, yet delightful!

When my Momma died quite suddenly (but waited for me to travel across the Atlantic to see her before she died -she was in coma- she died 10 minutes aafter I reached the hospital!), I dreamed about her, just sitting at the dinner table chatting with her like we always did, and I asked her point blank, "How did you survive this, Momma?" ....meaning death.....it felt like more than a dream somehow....

When Dad died 2 years later after, (I took him home to die with Hospice care), his wrist watch stopped 2 minutes after his last breath.
Very freaky, as he was a total time freak, and I felt that stopping the watch was his sign to his children that there is more than meets the eye here.

I have not tried to cultivate psychic powers, but do believe in them.

3. I believe there is a scientific reason for this.
We haven't discovered the science behind it yet. Our five senses lets us experience the universe in a limited way, so we may be aware of something around us that we can't quite percieve, but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Just as we can't see a large spectrum of colors because our eyes won't let us, we can through special instruments "see" them. We can't see the bugs that make us sick, but microscopes and other means point to the fact they exist.

So there should be no reason that this other dimension might one of these days be reached through science. We just haven't made contact yet in a provable way.

5. Here's a really fascinating development re: our senses. They seem to be
somewhat interchangeable.....What are the implications?

New Tools to Help Patients Reclaim Damaged Senses

By SANDRA BLAKESLEE

Published: November 23, 2004

Cheryl Schiltz vividly recalls the morning she became a wobbler. Seven years ago, recovering from an infection after surgery with the aid of a common antibiotic, she climbed out of bed feeling pretty good.

"Then I literally fell to the floor," she said recently. "The whole world started wobbling. When I turned my head, the room tilted. My vision blurred. Even the air felt heavy."

The antibiotic, Ms. Schiltz learned, had damaged her vestibular system, the part of the brain that provides visual and gravitational stability. She was forced to quit her job and stay home, clinging to the walls to keep from toppling over.

But three years ago, Ms. Schiltz volunteered for an experimental treatment - a fat strip of tape, placed on her tongue, with an array of 144 microelectrodes about the size of a postage stamp. The strip was wired to a kind of carpenter's level, which was mounted on a hard hat that she placed on her head. The level determined her spatial coordinates and sent the information as tiny pulses to her tongue.

The apparatus, called a BrainPort, worked beautifully. By "buzzing" her tongue once a day for 20 minutes, keeping the pulses centered, she regained normal vestibular function and was able to balance....cont'd

7. Quantum Physics is that science if your interested.
There is a good book by Amit Goswami Physics of the Soul.

I have a lot of this (what the op is referring to) those darn near death experiences. But I have a completely different take on what I am to do with it.

10. I have tried to read a lot about Quantum physics, but
I have barely an understanding of it. Never was good with physical sciences, however, I do believe that is where the answer lies. I believe we will have to let the Stephen Hawkings figure it out though.

6. What would happen if we all began to focus on developing this innate
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 11:47 PM by Dover
ability....this 6th sense? What if we valued this enough so as to actually find educational opportunities with teachers who have these abilities just as we might seek to learn a foreign language or other critical life skills? I think that is the next stage in our development...though I feel that it was more highly developed before in human history and was "lost".

8. When intuitive people get around other intuitives (or "psychics"), they
become MORE intuitive. It's happened with me many times before, and many of my friends .....some who have done "psychic" work with law enforcement agencies... have noticed the same phenomena.

So, Dover, your idea that there could be "educational opportunities" is true, from my own subjective experience. When you're around other people who can "see through the veil", it seems to open up your own senses even more.

It's contagious!! And it's nice!

11. Yes, I know what you mean. Surrounding yourself with intuitives
can rub off as well as provide validation (our society certainly doesn't). I guess I was talking more about what if our society valued this skill more and it was more integrated into our learning processes?
There are many nations who do give more value for these gifts.

But even on an individual level, what if we consciously set about focusing our intentions in this direction rather than counting on circumstance to provide it?

9. This is what happens to me quite often
I'll answer somebody and when they say, 'uh what' with a puzzled look on their face I'll repeat what I said and then ask isn't that what you just said or asked about. Then they really get a weird look on their face because they'll then say to me, um yeah I was just thinking that but I didn't say anything yet.

Can or does a person hear it as if it were actually said aloud? Because I swear I heard the words just the same as if someone spoke them out-loud as distinctly and as clear as a bell. It use to really creep me out when I was young. My Mom and I do have a connection and with her it never bothered me. She can hear me as well as I her without uttering a word, not always but often enough. And "feel" each other? OMG yes. But with co-workers or friends I use to get uncomfortable and very self conscious about "hearing them" because they'd look at me as if I were some kind of freaky weirdo.
My Mom use to say to me, your thinking out-loud again when I hadn't said a word. I didn't then but I know now what she meant. I never considered it "a power" though. Gift or talent maybe

"And they all moved away from me on the bench there thinkin' I was some kinda hairy oddball" ;-)
