I wish that I could meet Little. Border Collie's are amazing animals.
Thank you so much for sharing it with us, GardeningGal. :)

Appreciation here for all the past pets in my life. I love them all. What a great tribute.

4. Our four footed companions can be an excellent judge of character. |

I was giggling a bit when I was reading his comments about how Little disliked the one man so much and was "impolite" with him. I had a cat that would also be quite judgmental about people (men in particular) and she was NOT subtle at all with how she expressed her opinions.
Usually, if she disliked my date she would meow at him, flounce across the room and then lay there and glare at him with her tail flopping like she was impatient or annoyed. Sometimes she would actually sit there and growl, but that was not terribly often. TWICE, she walked up to guys and made burying motions like she was in her litter box.
Tillie had been badly abused by a house full of college guys before she came to live with me. She never liked most men as a result of that experience, and even after over a decade of secure life with me that cat still did not trust men. She always was a little bit crazy--I was never sure if she was gonna love on me or draw my blood--but when it came to men she had a very acute sense about them.
The opposite side of that story is that the first time kevsand was ever around that cat she hopped up in his lap, started to purr, and offered her tummy for a rub!!! She LOVED kev up to the day she died at the age of 17.
I miss her still.
