Did I manifest a paperweight?
More than a year ago I started using images of dodecahedrons in my energetic work (thus my twisting thing in my signature), and decided I needed a real one sitting on my desk. When I looked on Ebay, I either couldn't find anything I liked or they were a little bit too much. Instead I eventually made a dodecahedron calendar out of cardstock. It is still in here, with a 2008 calendar printed on it. It seems a poor substitute for a solid dodecahedron, but eventually I just let the homemade flimsy one suffice.

With regard to Ebay, I said to myself that I could probably find one much cheaper at an estate sale. I said to myself that I needed to look at estate sales for them. Problem is, how many estate sales would one have to attend to find a dodecahedron to sit on a desk? Second problem is that I rarely attend estate sales, because they seem too crowded, etc., though I do occasionally go to antique malls, and have never seen a dodecahedron paperweight. Then, on Saturday, on a sort of whim I attended an estate sale, my first in many, many years, and lo and behold I found a brass dodecahedron paperweight for one dollar. The thing is, I had already released my idea of caring about having a dodecahedron in my study. Well, I bought it anyway.

Now I am trying to figure out the message in all of this. Attend more estate sales? Need to develop more skills related to energetic practices? Release desires and then they come? Start selling stuff on Ebay? I tend to think of it as a humor thing, though. Haha, gotcha type thing. I just don't know. It is a cool looking thing though, sort of vintage 70s looking paperweight. Maybe I will meditate on it and something profound will come to me. Another thought--maybe this means I really need to clean up the stacks of paper in my study.......

Anyone have any ideas?

Oh, one thing-- I've always been pretty good at manifesting stuff like this. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to carry over into being able to manifest money. I am wondering if it is because our money has nothing backing it that makes it intrinsically valuable......

Oh yeah, my daughter got married last weekend, and wedding festivities kept me away for awhile. Everything went fine but I have been sort of emotionally exhausted. I hope everyone has been getting along okay here. I'll try to check the old posts when I get a chance. I'm sort of still unwinding.

1. You did your manifestation the RIGHT way!
The key to manifestation is to form your desire in your mind, and then let it go. So your process was exactly correct. Keep doing what you're doing--don't change a thing!

Congrats on the wedding!!! So glad everything went well. Now take the time to recover--you and everyone else involved will sure need it. ;)

2. glad to know it, and I had another thought

I have a feeling that my making the card stock dodecahedron may have been an important part in the manifestation. I was building a representation of what I wanted, putting some effort into it, etc. as a sort of template for what was desired. Then, the pattern of the paperweight energy was there, waiting to guide me to that one estate sale that actually had a dodecahedron paperweight.

I may use this information in some related way.

Edited to add this picture. Here are the two dodecahedrons.

3. If that works for you, then go for it
Hands-on work is great for helping focus. It's a fundamental part of witchcraft, and something I did for many years. Over time, though, you might find that you don't need the added aid of hands-on work, but as long as it helps for now--!

I like both of you dodecahedrons! :D

4. Thanks!!
Generally I use a little radionics program for "manifesting" but certainly didn't use it to get a paperweight. Heh. Odd that I did it the old fashioned way without even knowing it.

And I never said to myself--"I am going to manifest a brass dodecahedron paperweight." In this case, the thought never occurred to me, but it happened anyway.

The world is a little bit craaaaazzzzzy.

It really might be time to ditch the 2008 calendar. That could be the lesson here!

A classic. And wow, a dollar!

I loved your story and I think your idea of making one might have some validity. When I met my husband, for example, I had earlier put up pictures of a man who looks just like him all over my apartment (it was a man in an ad). Also, like your situation, I didn't necessarily think I was looking for something or someone. At the time, I was perfectly happy "playing the field." I just liked the way the guy looked in the photo in the ad, so I kept clipping the ad every time it appeared and taping it to my walls, cabinets, etc. Not long after the pics went up, I met him.

And here we are, some 20-odd years later and he's sitting across from me in his matching computer chair right now, working at his business. :)

I've had an estate sale or garage sale manifestation with extremely hard to find items, somewhat like your dodecahedron paperweight.

One time I needed a particular type of metal grid. The engineer friend who was helping me with this project for which we needed the grids insisted we go to all the stores and we spent an exhausting day not finding what was needed. I kept insisting this was not the way to find this metal grid and she snapped, "Well you tell me what is" so I said "garage sale."

She laughed in my face. She said good luck with that one!

The next day I got up and got the newspaper and let my hand waver over the garage sale ads and it rested on this one ad. I headed to my car and a visual started coming in. It came in sort of like a scan. I could feel it materializing on top of black asphalt. I could sense the shape.

I drove to the garage sale address and there it was, just as I had "seen" it scan in in my mind's eye. I bought it for $3.

Of course it was fun for me to laugh in my friend's face. I phoned her and asked her to come over to the address instead of laughing at her over the phone.

OK, now you would think that would be the end of the story but there is more. About three years later I wanted a different car and specifically wanted an Accord with less than 60,000 miles on it. I looked up under car ads on the internet and on my first try found one and guess where it was? The very same address as the place where I got the grids. Oh and I'm still driving that car, too.

Cher

edited to add that my engineer friend is a fellow DU-er

6. I think we could all take lessons from you!!
Wow!! Manifesting your hubby was by far the best part of that story. That is just too cool.

7. good manifesting
"Unfortunately that doesn't seem to carry over into being able to manifest money. I am wondering if it is because our money has nothing backing it that makes it intrinsically valuable......"

I'm the same way. I manifest "stuff" pretty readily and have for a long time. And now that I'm really desperate even seem to be manifesting jobs. But I can never seem to just manifest "money" appearing in my bank account. When I was very young I was better at it. Lost something along the way.

Which sucks because I've reached a point where all I really want to do is stay at home and be left alone. But until I can manifest my taxes being paid, my oil tank being filled, my larder being filled, hay shed filled, etc. I'm still dependent on the old-fashioned work thing.
