Getting a TKR in the morning

I am FINALLY getting my knee replaced in the morning so I would be appreciative of whatever good thoughts you might send my way.
I will be in the hospital for a total of 4 days (so they believe), so I will not be able to post until I arrive home. At least these days they make sure you can do a few steps before they release you.
My stomach is doing flip flops right now as the reality of it all hits me.

4. I had a TKR on June 30th.

I wish you the very best. I imagined the worst but it really wasn't too bad. I still use a cane but every day I see improvement.

I am not imaging the worst but I am impatient to get healed all the way.
I have lost 35 pounds to prepare for this so I am READY!

17. My grandmother had both of hers done.

She told me that she was up and moving around very quickly. "It hurt a bit," she said, "but not as bad as the knees did before the surgery." Her only regret was that she lost 10 years to the insurance company because they were stalling on approval for the proceedure.

18. UPDATE - I came home last night

Spent most of the evening throwing up since I had not been able to eat much probably caused by the constipation which was plaguing my body. That is now resolved.

Unfortunately, my daughter the nursing student has decided I am "addicted" to pain pills so she is withholding some of the current prescribed drugs. Her timing is interfering with our relationship and will (I fear) threaten recovery as it makes it too painful to do exercises.
This came from out of nowhere.

19. Have your doctor talk to your daughter

She may mean well, but withholding pain meds isn't going to help you. If she still refuses to cooperate after the doctor talks to her, I guess your other recourse could be revocation of her medication distribution duties.

And I agree that the doc needs to talk with your daughter - the day you get home is not a good time to withhold pain meds.

It's fine for her to be concerned. It's not ok for her to interfere. Withholding your prescribed medicine is practicing medicine without a license. Even with a nursing license, she would not be in a legal position to make that call.

I agree that a talk with your doctor who prescribed your pain meds might help here. If she refuses, then consider a talk with her nursing program director. She needs to learn boundaries now before she gets into trouble down the road.

It is not going to be pain-free but I knew that going into this.

You know, I AM peaceful about this and it is probably due in large part to the light and healing I am receiving from you and everyone else here.
