MLG Prepares Reserve Marines for War
Marine Corps News | Cpl. Aaron Rooks | January 31, 2008

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Two-hundred sixty reserve Marines from across the country were recently activated to deploy later this year in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to reinforce Marines currently serving in Iraq.

As a foundation for their upcoming deployment, the Marines, now attached to 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense, 2nd Marine Air Wing, took part in a day-long combined pre-deployment training package here, Jan. 25, at the 2nd Marine Logistics Group's Battle Skills Training School.

"I'm extremely proud to be able to give some relief to the Marines in Iraq," said Lance Cpl. Erik M. Stagar, a tactical data systems specialist with 2nd LAAD, originally from Landing Support Company, 4th MLG, located in Ohio.

"One of the most important things to me is relieving some of them so they can have the opportunity to come home and see their families."

Throughout the day, the Marines received refresher courses on basic combat skills such as vehicle and enemy prisoner-of-war searches, entry and vehicle control points, immediate action drills, firmbase operations and casualty evacuation procedures.
