FORT CARSON, Colo. — A Fort Carson soldier died in Iraq as a result of a non-combat-related incident, the Defense Department said Monday.

Staff Sgt. Chad A. Barrett, 35, of Saltville, Va., died Saturday in Mosul. No details were released. The military said the incident was under investigation.

Barrett was assigned to the 64th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.

He is the sixth Fort Carson soldier killed in Iraq in a week. Five soldiers were killed when a roadside bomb blew apart their vehicle during an ambush in Mosul on Jan. 28.
