The Marine Corps exceeded recruitment and retention goals for January, defense officials announced Monday.
The Corps sent 3,889 active-duty Marine hopefuls to its recruit depots, surpassing its goal by 11 percent.
Meanwhile, the service recruited 875 new Marines into the Reserve force, precisely meeting its goal of 875, officials said.
All active-duty services reported meeting or slightly exceeding recruitment goals for January, officials said. The Army Reserve and Air National Guard were the only reserve components to miss their monthly goals.
On the retention side, Marine officials reported they are ahead of the current year-to-date goal for keeping Marines in uniform.
