CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. — The case of a former Cannon Air Force Base airman accused of killing his wife is in the hands of a jury.

Jurors began deliberating the fate of former Airman Basic Edward Novak II on Tuesday. Closing arguments wrapped up Monday.

Novak faces life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder in the October 2004 death of his 20-year-old wife, Kimberly. She died in the military housing unit she shared with her husband and infant daughter. Kimberly Novak’s parents live in Greenbrier, Ark.

Novak, a former member of the 27th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, has been dishonorably discharged from the military.
