An airman absent without leave from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., is on the lam after allegedly holding his wife and child hostage.

Airman 1st Class Darryl Green is wanted by Glynn County, Ga., police, who responded to a domestic violence report Monday, according to a police press release.

A 21-year-old woman who said she was Green’s wife told police that Green had barricaded her and their 5-month-old child in the woman’s apartment on Monday, the release said. During the incident, the woman told police, Green tied the woman up, broke items in the apartment, tried to rape the woman, tried to force her to drink a cleaning product and shot at the woman while she held the baby.

Afterward, Green fled the scene in a silver 2006 Chevrolet Impala with North Carolina plates reading WPL8904, the release said.

Glynn County police have issued warrants for Green’s arrest on two counts each of kidnapping, false imprisonment and aggravated assault and counts of attempted rape, property damage and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime. Green is also wanted for being AWOL for about a month from Seymour Johnson, said Capt. Marissa Tindale, GCPD spokeswoman.
