March trial date set for woman accused of stabbing husband

BAUMHOLDER, Germany — A trial date has been set for Joanna Chestnut Price, who faces a charge of manslaughter in connection with allegations she fatally stabbed her Hanau-based soldier husband during his Oct. 8 birthday party.

The Hanau prosecutor’s office has scheduled a four-day trial, which will begin on March 6 and continue on March 10, 12 and 13.

Chestnut Price faces a maximum prison sentence of 15 years, according to prosecutors.

Pvt. Jeremy Price was stabbed to death during his 21st birthday party in his quarters on Pioneer Kaserne, authorities reported at the time. Price, who served with the 502nd Engineer Company, had been in Germany just two months when he was stabbed.

According to prosecutors, witnesses said there was a quarrel between the couple prior to the stabbing. One of those witnesses called authorities shortly after the stabbing.
