AAFES prepares to reflect high gas markups across the States
By Matt Millham, Stars and Stripes
European edition, Friday, February 29, 2008

Fuel prices are headed up again. Way up.

And, if what some analysts are saying is true, the United States could be in for $4 gas this summer.

The upward march toward that unprecedented mark already appears to have started. In the States, diesel jumped 15.6 cents in the last week to $3.552 — a record high — according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

Unleaded gasoline prices aren’t breaking records yet, but are less than a dime away from setting their own highs after shooting up about 9 cents a gallon in the last week. The leap also brings stateside prices to their highest mark in nine months.

The rising U.S. prices are reflected in the price of fuel sold through the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Europe.
