New housing opens at Keesler

BILOXI, Miss. — Airmen and their families have gotten a look at the future of military housing at Keesler Air Force Base.

Keesler officials on Thursday put on display the first 36 completed homes in the Thrower Park subdivision.

Hurricane Katrina destroyed most of the base’s 1,600 military homes in August 2005.

The homes opened Thursday are the first of 1,000 new homes to be available at Keesler.

Touhill said the new housing carries a price tag of about $287 million.
