The Army’s vice chief of staff warned Tuesday that if Congress does not provide additional supplemental funding for Iraq and Afghanistan operations by the end of May, a serious disruption of programs and operations will occur.
Such dire predictions about potential disasters stemming from a shortage of funds have become a rite of spring in recent years — but they rarely make Congress move any faster.
Lawmakers provided $70 billion in emergency wartime funding in December that was supposed to carry the services through part of the current fiscal year. President Bush is asking for another $108.1 billion in supplemental funding to cover the full fiscal year through Sept. 30.
Gen. Richard Cody, Army vice chief of staff, told a Senate subcommittee that the extra funds are needed “prior to the end of May.”
His remarks were made before the Senate Armed Services readiness subcommittee at a hearing called to focus on current and future readiness problems.

Don't buy an F-22 or an LCS or another San Antonio ship. You'll have plenty of $$$ for your occupation.
