Boards to consider voluntary retention
Boards to consider voluntary retention

Most above-zone captains passed over by the 2008 Army Competitive Category major boards will be considered for voluntary retention on active duty by selective continuation boards.

The fiscal 2008 Maneuver, Fire and Effects; Operational Support; and Force Sustainment major promotion boards are scheduled for April 8-May 2.

Selective continuation, or SelCon, boards will meet after the promotion boards.

The above-zone category for these boards includes previously considered officers with O-3 dates of rank of March 31, 2002, and earlier.

Under federal law and Defense Department directives, passed-over captains can be recommended for retention if they are not in selective continuation status and do not have a voluntary or mandatory retirement or separation date before July 7, 2008.
