"The Welcome Home Initiative"

I stumbled upon this place today and thought i would share this with the veterans on DU.

Although I have no religious affiliation I thought this place was cool. It's in my local town and is sponsored by the the Episcopal Dioceses of Albany NY. I visited with my nephew who is post grad student in a history and theology at a school in Rhode Island.

They have a program for vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and I think for any vet returning home and is not limited to those of the episcopalian faith.

They offer 5 day retreats for Veterans and their families with counseling for PTSD, getting back into civilian life etc. To my knowledge the program is free. Lodging and meals and counseling included and is located in Washington Co, NY. The campus is beautiful.

So if you know any vets that could use this sort of thing please make them aware of this opportunity.

By the way, this property was formerly owned by some drug trafficker who was somehow involved in the Iran Contra scandal. I'll try to find more info on that.

Thanks to unhappycamper for keeping us posted on veterans issues.
