Mountain Home F-15s deploy to Guam
Staff report
Posted : Tuesday Jun 3, 2008 7:44:47 EDT

Several F-15E Strike Eagles from the 389th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, will deploy Tuesday to Andersen Air Force Base, Guam.

The Air Force routinely deploys fighters and tankers to Guam and other areas of the western Pacific as part of U.S. Pacific Command’s theater security packages, and Andersen also has a constant presence of deployed bombers.

“These moves demonstrate the continued U.S. commitment to fulfill its security responsibilities through the western Pacific,” Lt. Col. Charlie Findley, the 389th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron’s liaison officer, said in a statement. “These deployments also send a clear message to any potential adversary that the U.S. is serious about security and stability in the region.”

The fighters will be deployed to Andersen through August. The last time fighters deployed to Guam was in summer 2007.

Once a sleepy Air Force way station, Andersen has seen its stock rise in recent years.
