Jackson police detectives are working with military officials to investigate several car break-ins that occurred over the weekend at the Marine Corps Reserves Center for Company C, Anti-Terrorism Battalion.

Precinct 2 Cmdr. Jesse Robinson said someone late Friday night scaled the center’s fence, enter the secured federal property and burglarize 10 cars belonging to Marines who were out of town. Two more car break-ins were reported Saturday.

Robinson said he has spoken with a commander at the Marine Corps Reserve Center about security issues.

“They are going to put up razor wire, new lighting and cameras and we will get pass keys to get in to the facility,” Robinson said. “And also they are going to notify us when they have people who will be staying overnight, that way we can be ready to counter that .”

The center’s community affairs officer was not available for comment Wednesday.
