Flame-resistant shirt tailored to Afghanistan
Flame-resistant shirt tailored to Afghanistan

As the Corps gears up for possible increased deployments to Afghanistan, Marine officials are weighing the purchase of new cold-weather gear, including a flame-resistant shirt that would be worn with body armor.

Marine officials are in the process of selecting the design for the Inclement Weather Combat Shirt, Marine Corps Systems Command spokeswoman Capt. Geraldine Carey said. It still must undergo testing.

In the Corps’ written solicitation to industry, officials asked for a shirt that can be worn with all three kinds of body armor common in the Corps: the Modular Tactical Vest, the older Outer Tactical Vest and the Scalable Plate Carrier, which was first widely introduced as a lighter-weight option in Afghanistan earlier this year.

But an industry official said the Corps is developing the shirt primarily for use with the plate carrier in Afghanistan, which has bitter cold winters that typically begin in November.

“When they go to torch it (in testing), it will be with the plate carrier on it,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing competition.

just another Islamic Meat grinder.. they dont want us there, they prefer their own struggle against their own people...it is a Tribal Country. we cant change them with guns, only create more hatred and more terrorists.

we could use the money wasted there to create solar, wind, bio-fuels like algae, hemp etc to become completely free of any foreign fuel and most importantly.. free of Foreign Influence. by starting a nationalized energy program like JFK's man to the moon, we could use the profits to pay off the national debt in 20 year.. the interest payments on the debt is approaching 1/2 TRILLION DOLLARS A YEAR http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/ir/ir_expense.htm

then we can give Afghanistan the technology, soon they would free themselves... WESTERNERS DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE INFIDELS.. AND WHAT THAT MEANS.
