Two North Carolina-based Marines are accused of attempting to have sex with someone they thought was a middle school-aged girl but turned out to be an undercover detective, according to a report in The Daily News of Jacksonville, N.C.
Sgt. Donald Ira Mundell, 27, who is assigned to 2nd Intelligence Battalion, at Camp Lejeune, and Pfc. Jack Eugene McHenry III, 21, with Barracks 4166 at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, were charged in June with online enticement of a minor for the purposes of committing an illegal sex act, the newspaper reported Thursday. Both men are being held in the Lejeune brig.
McHenry is scheduled to appear in court in November, The Daily News reported. Mundell pleaded guilty to federal charges in September.
