TEHRAN, Iran — Iran’s state radio says the country’s military has warned U.S. forces that their helicopters in Iraq fly too close to the Iranian border.

A statement issued by the Iranian military and carried by the radio Wednesday warns the U.S. against violating Iranian airspace or face an Iranian response.

The statement follows a U.S. raid last month inside Syria near its border with Iraq that reportedly killed a member of al-Qaida in Iraq who sent foreign fighters into the wartorn country.

Iran has criticized the raid and is opposed to the U.S. military presence in Iraq.
