Lewis soldiers to return from tour in Iraq

About 140 soldiers from the 514th Medical Support Company and the 547th Medical Company will return Nov. 7 from a 15-month deployment to Iraq.

The soldiers will be reunited with their families at Fort Lewis, Wash.

Both companies deployed in August 2007 and served under the Fort Lewis-based 62nd Medical Brigade headquarters while in Iraq.

During their deployment, soldiers from the 547th treated more than 72,000 patients, providing more than $12 million in medical care to coalition soldiers and civilians. Their work included routine immunizations and X-rays to emergency medical support and coordinating air evacuations for critically ill and injured patients.

The 514th conducted more than 4,000 missions, transporting more than 7,000 patients to medical care facilities for treatment.
