NORFOLK, Va. — A former sailor has been indicted on federal charges of stealing night-vision goggles, radios, aviation helmets and other items from Norfolk Naval Station and then selling them on the Internet.

Jessica Jacob of Norfolk is charged with one count of theft of government property and 11 counts of wire fraud.

Court records and other public documents indicate that Jacob was in the Navy from at least 2002 through 2006. The indictment says the thefts occurred in 2006 at Norfolk Naval Station.

Jacob is accused of obtaining more than $1,600 from selling merchandise at cut-rate prices on eBay between February 2006 and January 2007, according to the indictment.

Jacob did not yet have an attorney listed in court filings.
